About Secondary Schools
The fourth stage in the schooling pattern is the Secondary school classes. Secondary schools begin in India after the eight years of formal education of elementary and middle school classes. This education continues for two years, specifically class IX and X. The age group for the same is 13-15 years of age. At the end of class X, students in India are asked to appear for a pan India, standardized exam either under state boards or Central Board Of Secondary Education(CBSE).
The students who pass this national-level secondary examination are awarded a mark sheet or report card and a certificate namely Secondary School Certificate or SSC. This certificate and mark sheets are important in all further admissions and learning. Even this certificate is used as an address proof and as birth certificate proof at times. These are one of the most important documents in oneโs life. After attaining them only the students are eligible for senior secondary schools and examinations.
A national organization, a statutory body set up by the government of India develops policies and programmes in the sector of Education, its application, execution or any other disputed matter. It is the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT). It publishes standardised books for pan India to get the same course and curriculum across the nation, for Central board specifically. Rest all other education boards have their different publishers' books, but the course that is the index of topics is somewhat the same. Apart from this, they create the National Curriculum Framework too.
Each state allows some freedom in the formulation of policies, schemes, procedures, instructions about the curriculum and also for conducting examinations all over the country; under the broader guidance of the NCERT council. These delegated powers are enjoyed by the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
