Maharashtra is a coastal state towards the western suburb of the Arabian sea. The capital is Mumbai “the city of dreams". The former name was Bombay, also called the financial capital of India though. The famous Hindi Cinema industry is in the same city. The state has various attributes, amazing natural wonders and rich cultural heritage. The important cities are Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Shirdi, and Kolhapur. The caves are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and rock-cut architecture, beautiful and religious pilgrimage centres of all secular religions of the country are tourist spots like in Ajanta Ellora Caves, Elephanta caves, magnificent entertainment parks, rides and others.
The major dynasty of the nation, the Peshwa’s and the Marathi culture has historical and ancient importance. They were responsible for shaping India in its current forms.The rich and traditional state of Maharashtra is rich in folks and traditional aspects. Some of the age-old traditional and indigenous dance and music styles are Koli, Powada, Banjara, Tamasha, Bhajan, Bharud, Gondhal, Kirtan, Lalita, Abhangas and Tumbadi and Lavani dance.
Port and Shipping Industry
The port and shipping industry employs directly and indirectly many people, also because the state is a coastal area, with direct connectivity of internal and international trade. The regular Hawkers, taxi drivers, mechanics, and other daily earners around the beaches and ports is also an important activity in the state.
India is one of the major Pharmaceutical giants in the world. To further grow in the same, some major investments in research and development, better infrastructure needs to be done.
