The legacy of Prabhat studio

The present-day centre, with a 2-year campus was initially aligned and bowed by the film company way back in the year 1933. The company was founded in cool Harper in 1929 and moved to Pune four years later. A stealer and pioneering film company of its time, it produced several important and iconic films such as Shejari, Dyaneshwar and Sairandhri, which was the only colour film made by Prabhat. Such was the legacy of this iconic studio, at the time, it was the biggest film studio in Asia. The production made by the Prabhat film company in its heyday included 45 films made in both Marathi and Hindi languages.

Establishment of FTII

The film and television institute of India was established in 1960 and was formerly known as the Film Institute of India. It was an extension of the department of the Ministry of Information and broadcasting by the government of India, to promote art and culture of our country.

In 1971, FTII came to be known as the film and television institute of India and soon started in-service training programmes for the others, and majorly for India’s public broadcaster. The television training wing of the institute shifted to Pune from Delhi in 1974. Thereafter, the College is fully under the Ministry of Information and broadcasting.

There the name was changed to FTII, which also became an autonomous society under the Ministry of Information and broadcasting. It comes under a governing council and its appointed director.

WHAT IS FTII?

If filmmaking is something that you want to pursue professionally, the film and television institute of India (FTII) might be the college you can pursue this career in. To get into FTII, Pune, FTII JET is conducted once a year, and several admissions are given based on this

FTII JET is the film and television institute of India joint entrance exam. It is a national level entrance examination for PG and PG diploma offered by the college. There are numerous programmes offered by the film wing-like

• Editing
• Acting
• Screenplay
• Cinematography
• Sound designing and recording

The television wing offers courses such as direction, electronic cinematography, sound recording and television engineering and video editing.

The minimum qualification for candidates aspiring to get into Direction & ScreenPlay Writing, Electronic Cinematography, and Video Editing, Acting is a bachelor's degree in any discipline.

For Sound Recording & Television Engineering: A Bachelor’s Degree or a graduate from any stream, but with Physics a mandatory subject in class 12.

For Art Direction & Production Design courses: A Bachelor’s Degree in one from Applied Arts, Architecture, Sculpture, Painting, Interior Design, Related Field in Fine Arts, or else an equivalent diploma in any other accepted creative field.

FTII JET ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR PROGRAMMES OFFERED UNDER TELEVISION WING

• The admit card is available on the “official website”.
• The hall ticket for the exam will only be available online with no post facility.
• FTII JET Admit Card will hold information like the centre of the candidate, and other instructions.
• No candidate will be allowed, without a hard copy of the admit card inside the exam hall.
• The photo identity proof is also mandatory at the examination hall like Aadhar Card or Pan Card.
• Two passport-sized coloured photographs.

Steps to download the FTII JET ADMIT CARD 2024-

• Step 1: Visit the official website.
• Step 2: Then, click on the “admit card” button.
• Step 3: Candidates have to enter their application number, date of birth and email address.
• Step 4: FTII JET admit card appears on the screen.
• Step 5: Download the FTII JET admit card 2024.
• Step 6: Check all the details mentioned there; and get a coloured scanned copy of it.

• The payment is only via online mode for the fees.

FTII JET 2024 APPLICATION FORM

Candidates must go through the following details regarding the application form details:

• FTII JET 2024 registration will be started via online mode only.
• Candidates can start the process from June 2024.
• The last date to submit the application form for FTII JET 2024 will be in the last week of June 2024.
• While filling the application form, candidates must not forget to upload the scanned image of passport size photograph and signature.
• All important details will be sent to candidates registered mail ID and mobile number. So, it must be working/valid.
• Candidates will have to select two cities as per their preference at the time of registration.
• An incomplete application form will lead to rejection so candidates must fill the application form completely and carefully.
• Candidates must not forget to re-check and verify the given details as incorrect details in the form will lead to rejection.
• Once the form gets filled, take its printout and keep it safe for future reference.

Steps to apply for FTII JET 2024

• An email will be sent to your registered mail ID.
• Login using the given login credentials.
• Fill in other asked and required details & complete your process.
• Save the provided details.
• Upload the documents such as category certificate, passport size photograph, signature, etc.
• Scanned image of photograph and signature must be in JPG/JPEG format

• Photograph size must be between 20KB to 50KB.
• The size of the signature must be between 20KB to 50KB.
• Select the exam city as per your preference.
• Re-check and verify the details.
• After verification, proceed to submit the application fee.

• 1. Film Wing: It has two sections-

  Section A: In this, candidates will be asked to take the General Aptitude Test which includes questions from Architecture, Art, Cinema etc.

  Section B: In this, candidates will be asked questions from the specific area aptitude test. This section will ideally have long descriptive questions, descriptive type questions and short notes type questions.

• 2. Television Wing: It has three sections:

  Section A: It comprises General Aptitude Test which will have questions related to General Awareness & Television, Digital Media & Electronics.

  Section B: it will consist of long descriptive type questions.

  Section C: Special Area A[titude Test.

FTII JET 2024 SELECTION AND ADMISSION PROCESS

After the release of the result, candidates need to participate in the following steps:

• Orientation
• Audiation (for acting)
• Interview

The candidates will be given admission based on their performance in the entrance exam, followed by the orientation and interview process. There is a medical test also, to enter the FTII institution and then document the verification process too. Both participating institutes will release their cut off and criteria for various stages of the FTII JET selection process will also be different.

FTII JET MEDICAL EXAMINATION OF CANDIDATES

After clearing the orientation and interview process, selected candidates will have a medical test. The same medical officers will be appointed and they will conduct the tests and examinations. On failing, Candidates will be considered ineligible for admission.
