ABOUT “JIPMER”
The JIPMER MBBS test has been replaced by the NEET-UG. The test was previously conducted by the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education Research (JIPMER). For admission to the institute's MBBS courses provided in Puducherry and Karaikal, a national level medical entrance exam is held. In Puducherry, 150 MBBS seats are available, while in Karaikal, 50 MBBS seats are available.
JIPMER was not covered by the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) until 2019, as the foundation was established under a separate Act of Parliament. JIPMER used to direct its various tests for admission to MBBS programmes after that.
