The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) is yet another state-led examination for the colleges and universities of West Bengal, which was introduced to have a standardised process of screening of candidates of the area. As West Bengal was among the first few presidencies at the time of British Rule. The exam was initiated in 1962 by the Government because of the powers of 162 of the Constitution of India and the circular dated 02.03.1962. It was thus constituted to conduct the Joint Entrance Examination for admission to various institutions in West Bengal. The main aim was to impart education in many fields in medical, engineering and technological courses.

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is a gateway for candidates seeking admission into B.Tech and B.Pharma courses at universities, government colleges and self-financing engineering & technical institutions in West Bengal.

Last year, close to one lakh people appeared for the exam, which makes it an esteemed and recognizable exam amongst all.

How to download admit card

Candidates follow these steps to download the WBJEE exam admit card from the official website.

• Step 1: Visit the official website of the WBJEE exam and click on the admit card tab.
• Step 2: Enter the application number /registration and password which is generated while filling and submitting and enter a security pin.
• Step 3: Once logged in, then download the admit card.
• Step 4: Check the Details and mentioned on the WBJEE exam admit card and take a printout.

Changes and highlights in WBJEE exam 2024

The application fee of Candidates WBJEE 2024 has been revised.

• General candidates will have to pay Rs. 500,
• While SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B will have to pay Rs. 400.

• Nationality

  The aspirant must be an Indian citizen

• Age restriction

  A candidate must be 17 years or above the age (as of December 31, 2024), to fit in to sit for the official exams. Students aged and born on December 31, 2004, or before are eligible till the students born on or before December 31, 2000
  The lower age limit is 17 years while the upper age limit is 25 years.

• For B.Tech admissions

  Students have passed Class 12 or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of the listed below subjects as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical) a minimum. These minimum passing marks must be for all three subjects, discreetly in regular class mode. The compulsory subjects in these regards are:

  • 1. Chemistry
  • 2. Biotechnology
  • 3. Biology
  • 4. Computer Science
  • 5. Computer Application
  • 6. Technical Vocational Subject
• Aspirants must have secured a minimum of 45 per cent marks (40 per cent in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category such as SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in the above three subjects taken together.
• Candidates should have qualified English in the Class 12 board exam with at least 30 per cent marks also required.
• The Board or the Qualifying Exam must be affiliated to recognised Central Government or State Government universities.

Eligibility criteria of WBJEE exam for pharmacy

• Candidates who have passed class 12 with minimum marks of 45% also have chemistry, biology, physics practical individual pass marks compulsory of each subject both of practical and theory.
• Candidates must have obtained 45% marks in all the three exams taken from compulsory subjects.

WBJEE exam registration can be done and checked on the official website of the exam. Fill the form of email id and register a new mobile number, date of birth and register mobile number on successful WBJEE exam registration An OTP will be sent and verified in the same order to complete the registration form completed.

Candidate application form

Candidates email id, father name, gender, date of birth, academic qualifications, phone number and other important first hand information. Candidates will have to choose a preferred exam city to select the WBJEE exam.

Candidate upload passport size photo and signature with photograph, on a background with colour white strictly.
Mobile phone are not allowed in the examination centres.
The signature must be in black or blue ink and should not be in capital letters.

Pay WBJEE exam application fee

WBJEE exam application fee will enable and be proof for confirmation, that one has submitted the applicationa nd it has reached the authorities. Only then will the process of the application be considered complete and students will be allowed to sustain through. Fee amount for:

• 1. General Category is Rs. 500
• 2. SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B is Rs.400

The application fee must be paid online via net banking, Debit and Credit card.

A. Make sure your internet connection is working perfectly fine. If the problem persists, try to log out from the website and login again if you are still not able to download then contact the board help desk immediately.

Q. What if I forgot to carry my admit card to the examination centre?

A. Without the admit card no candidate will be allowed to enter the examination centre.

Q. Will both the online and offline versions of this examination be conducted on the same day?

A: No, the conducting body conducts the WBJEE entrance examination in offline mode only.

Q: What is the negative marking scheme for this examination?

A: There is a provision of negative marking of one mark for each incorrect answer.

Q: Is there any provision for negative marking for unattempted questions of WBJEE?

A: No. There is no provision for the negative marking for wrong answers and unanswered or unattempted questions.

Q: In case the final answer is wrong will there be any step marking in this examination?

A: There is no provision for step marking.

A: No, not a single electrical application or equipment is allowed to be carried in the examination centre.

A: As for difficulty level, the WBJEE syllabus can be regarded as moderate to tough.

Q: Are the concepts and topics similar to that of the 10+2 board exams?

A: Yes, all the topics are very similar to that of class 12 board exams and all those topics also deal with the basics as well as the extensive concepts of the subjects from which the questions will appear.
