The exam comprises 32 subjective type questions. The syllabus for IICD Entrance Exam 2024 is included in the 10+2 level curriculum.

Minimum eligibility for the B. Des program is 10+2 while for the M. Des program the minimum eligibility is a graduate degree in any relevant discipline.

The result list of successful candidates for the IICD Entrance Exam 2024 will be released in the final week of April. Apart from the list of successful candidates, IICD will usually publish two separate waiting lists for admission to B. Des and M. Des programs. The seat allocation for waitlisted candidates will commence only if the seats remain vacant after allocation to shortlisted candidates. The design entrance exam is generally conducted in June, every year. However, this year, the institute is providing admission to candidates based on SOP, portfolio submission and online interviews only.

• Step 1: Firstly fill the IICD entrance exam application form.

  For the IICD entrance exam registrations candidates must first fill the IICD application form correctly and excreetly in the online mode on the official website of the college. The IICD entrance exam application form includes sections such as a candidate’s details, education details, and address which needs to be filled carefully.

• Step 2: Obtain the admit card for the IICD entrance exam.

  After successful IICD entrance exam 2024 registration, IICD admit card will be emailed to candidates on their registered email IDs in a short time frame.

  It should be noted that the IICD entrance exam used to be held at the test centre. However, this year candidates can take the exam from home due to the pandemic situation. Earlier, candidates were asked to bring the printout of the admit card to the IICD exam centre as it was a mandatory document to be carried. Along with the IICD entrance exam admit card, candidates also had to bring a self-attested recent passport size photo pasted on the admit card as instructed by IICD. In addition, candidates also need to carry an original photo ID proof to the IICD entrance exam centre, else the entry will be denied.

• Step 3: Thirdly, appear for the IICD entrance exam.

  As the admit card is available to the candidates. In the same way the IICD Entrance Exam question paper 2024 will be mailed. Students are required to fill the answers on a Word document/PDF and submit the same along with the portfolio. "The portfolio contains the candidate's creative work which is unique and true. Sketching, painting, embroidery, photography, modelling, creating models, explorations with materials, creative writing, etc. may be included in the portfolio," mentioned on the website. Once candidates submit the portfolio they need to appear for a personal interview round in online mode if their profile gets selected.

  Earlier, to appear for the IICD entrance exam, students had to give two written design tests and a personal interview. While both the written tests will aid at stating the general awareness and design aptitude of candidates, questions in the personal interview round will state the IQ and personal accomplishments of students.

• Step 4: Then you can check the IICD entrance exam result

  IICD admissions 2024 is conducted based on a candidate’s performance in the written test, portfolio round and personal interview round. After conducting the tests and the personal interview round, the college will declare the IICD entrance exam result on its official website and students who got selected will carry forward the further steps.

Note: IICD has the authority to reserve or release the number of seats in any specialisation. It can increase or decrease admissions in any of the UG & PG Professional Diploma Programmes.

For B. Des in Crafts and Design Program

• Students must have cleared higher secondary exams (10+2) from a recognized board of education.
• Students appearing in the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply for the test only after completing the first step.

For M. Des in Crafts and Design Program

• Students must have a recognized Degree or Diploma in Architecture/Design, Fashion, Fine Art, and Home Science in Textiles & Clothing; Or
• Candidate should be an Artisan’s child/ward 5 years direct work experience in hereditary traditional crafts after successful passing of Senior Higher Secondary Board Exam; Or
• Graduates of all disciplines possible with an aptitude towards crafts, fashion or design and any kind of creativity.
• Those aspirants appearing for their qualifying exam can also apply; the admission will be provisional and subject to obtaining the defined eligibility latest by 31st October 2024.

For Foreign Nationals and NRI Candidates:

• International Candidates/NRI candidates seeking admission to the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design should have the required educational qualifications/certificates similar or correspond to that is required for Indian candidates.
• Admission of Foreign Nationals/NRI candidates in various UG/PG/Certificate programmes of IICD is based on certain guidelines given by IICD.

Registration

• 1) You can visit the official IICD website.
• 2) The official website for the IICD examination maintained by the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design is www.iicd.ac.in, you can refer to this particular website.
• 3) Then, click on the ‘Admissions’ tab.
• 4) Choose ‘ Admissions 2024-22 ’ from the drop-down menu correctly.
• 5) A new page will appear.

• 4) Enter your permanent address and other contact info which will be used for verification purposes.
• 5) Verify the information mentioned on the form.

Uploading the documents

• 1)After you have filled in all the details requested in the earlier steps, you are requested to upload the essential documents.
• 2)Upload your coloured passport size photograph and signature.
• 3)Scanned images should be in the format recommended on the IICD website.
• 4) Then, Click on ‘ Save and Continue ’ to save your application form and move to the subsequent step.
• 5) Students can edit their form at this time if needed. Once the fee is paid, no correction will be possible in the application form.

Payment of fees

• 1) As mentioned on the official site, Fee for IICD Entrance Exam 2024 is INR 1500 to be paid by candidates.

Paper 2 is IICD Material, Color & Conceptual Test which will judge the students on the basis of:

• 1. Intelligent use of materials, conceptualization and realization of a three-dimensional form. Observation skills, Strategizing skills, thinking, expanding of ideas, and creating solutions based on a plan and strategy, organising stuff.
• 2. Providing multiple solutions to the given problem with a written description.
• 3. The third is the Personal Interview Round.

The results can be seen and downloaded from the official website of IICD.

Students can check their result by signing into the website using their ID and password, where a list will be released, for potential candidates clearing their rounds. Also, a waitlist mentions students who may get admitted in case of empty seats.
The list is made based on the scores obtained by the candidates.
Students are called for counselling once their name appears in the list prepared by IICD.
They have to assure and give consent by paying the admission fee, for confirming the admissions.

Cut off for IICD Entrance Exam 2024

There is no official declaration about the cut-off percentages and total marks for the admissions through the entrance exam. A list is prepared based on marks obtained by candidates, and potential applicants are allotted the esteemed seat according to their number on the merit list. General Awareness, Creativity and Perception Test

Total no. of questions: 31

• The first 25 questions of the test will be General Awareness questions, which will be Multiple Choice Questions.
• Questions numbered 26 to 30 will be visual observation-based questions; these questions will also be Multiple Choice Questions.
• Question number 31 will be a creative writing question for a short essay.
Material, Color and Conceptual Ability Test

There are two sections A and B.

• 1. Section A is the Material Test where candidates will be given certain materials and candidates have to create something out of it. Candidates are also required to explain in around 50 words what they have made and write it on the sheet provided.
• 2. Section B has the Color and Conceptual Ability Test. It is based on some materials out of which something must be created. Candidates will also have to write about the composition and colour scheme of the thing that they have created.

The exam pattern is very different for UG and PG courses, total marks, time allotted, type of questions, etc all are different. There can be a slight change in the number of questions asked in the PG examination in Creativity and Perception and Material, Color and Conceptual Ability Test, but the crux of the test is the same.
