Supporting employability in challenging times
The COVID- 9 pandemic has created many challenges for businesses across the country which resulted in significant impacts in the form of job losses and recruitment being put on hold. Employers were trying to keep business alive and margins intact, due to which the number of job opportunities for professionally qualified talent in the market were quite minimal.
During these challenging times, to support its future members and members with employability, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the global body for professional accountants successfully hosted a Virtual Career Fair and connected an array of employers with finance professionals in India. In its fourth edition, the ACCA Virtual Career Fair attracted an overwhelming 2,100+ attendees and 14 companies across various industries and sectors such as BFSI, Consulting, Professional Services, IT, Real Estate Management, Shipping, etc.
The day long event began with a welcome address by Ms Helen Brand, Chief Executive, ACCA and Md Sajid Khan, Head of International Development at ACCA. Virtual Q&A sessions were also held with Mr Dinesh Jangid, Partner - CFO Advisory, KPMG, Ms Barsha Sharma - Member Engagement Manager at ACCA and Mr. Rahul Puri - Head of Employer Relations at ACCA who answered questions about ACCA, Practical Experience Requirements (PER), career opportunities and employability.
Participants visited employers’ virtual booths, joined chat rooms, and submitted their CVs for job openings, and connected with employers for future opportunities. Additionally, to help participants upskill, they were shown a number of on-demand videos, professional insights reports and career advice amongst other initiatives.
Commenting on the Virtual Career Fair, Md. Sajid Khan, Head of International Development, ACCA said, The fourth edition of our Virtual Career Fair received an impressive response in terms of participants from a large number of students, affiliates and members connecting with key employers from across the country.
