Bachelor of Technology (BTech) is a professional undergraduate engineering degree program awarded to candidates after they complete four years of their study in the field of mathematics and technology. Engineering is one of the most popular courses in India and there are many institutes that offer the course to aspiring candidates.
For admissions, process the most common BTech entrance examinations are JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Along with these national-level entrance examinations, there are many state and private level entrance examinations that are held every year for admission to the course. The basic eligibility criteria for BTech is class 12 completed with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. However, there are additional criteria in every entrance exam and institute. Some of the institutes also conduct admission to their courses on a merit basis i.e. based on marks scored by candidates in their class 12 board examination.

Various BTech Entrance Exams in India:
In India, technical programes such as BTech, fall under the regulatory purview of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Admissions to B.Tech programes take place through national level/state-level/institute-level engineering entrance examinations conducted every year. The top five engineering entrance exams taken by a large number of students each year are as follows :
JEE Main – it is prime choice of candidates to get admission in top engineering colleges in India and it’s Conducted by National Testing Agency, JEE Main is the entrance examination for BTech admissions into NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. JEE Main consists of two papers – Paper 1 (BE/BTech) and Paper 2 (BArch/BPlan)
JEE Advanced – It is also the national level entrance examination for BTech admissions into IITs and conducted after mains. Students have to qualify for JEE Main to attempt JEE Advanced.
VITEEE – One of the most popular private institute entrance examinations taken by students, VITEEE offers admissions into the BTech courses offered by Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) and its various campuses.
MHT CET – Through MHT CET, students can apply for BTech admissions into the BTech institutes of the Maharashtra state.
TS EAMCET – it offers admissions to students in the Telangana state institutes on the basis of their scores in the entrance examination.
BTech Admission Process:
BTech aspirants can appear in various entrance examS to enter India’s top universities.
National entrance exams such as JEE Mains and JEE Advanced are applicable to various programs of Bachelor of Technology in most universities.
The BTech Admissions 2022 is through national (JEE Mains, JEE Advanced), state (WBJEE, KEAM, etc.), or university/college level (IISER level test, BITSAT, etc.) entrance exams.
It is estimated that some universities conduct their own entrance examinations to shortlist students. These exams are mostly held in the months of April and May each year.
The NTA has decided to hold JEE entrances 4 times in 2022, in February, April, July and August of 2022 in order to provide BTech admissions to the students.
This decision was made taking into account the current situation of the pandemic and the increase in Covid-19 cases.
Result Announcement: After the exam result is announced, applicants who wish to join IIT and NIT must participate in Joint Vacancy Allocation Agency. The counseling begins after the result announcement.
Counseling/Orientation: In this round, the Counselling Committee decides the allocation of universities and courses based on the student’s list of grades, the grades applied for and the category of each candidate.
Admission Notice: After successfully completing the counseling process, the applicant will receive a BTech admission notice from the suitable university in which he/she is selected for a BTech course to pursue. After students accept the admission offer, they will be required to pay an additional fee to confirm their admission to that university.
Document Verification: This is the final round of BTech Admission, in this round candidates, are asked to verify all the necessary documents required after their admission is confirmed in a BTech college or university.
