What is an 'Addend'?

Definition: In very simple words an 'addend' is a number added to Another. So all we have to understand here is that for eg. in the equation.

X + Y = Z

The numbers x and y are the addends.

In this particular worksheet, the children are asked to find the missing addend in the given sum.

How will these worksheets help the young students ?

The students will learn to 'familiarize' themselves with the basic concepts of adding the sum of two given numbers. In this case the young students have to find the missing addend. But let's not go too far from the point.

Again the example that perfectly explains what an addend is:

X + Y = Z

Wherein we already had understood that x and y are both the addends in the math equation.

Similarly there is an eg. taken from the worksheet itself, ie the first question, in the questionnaire:

3 + __ = 4

So here the students are expected to fill in the missing addend. The missing addend is '1' which the student can later verify in the following page, ie answer key.

In addition, these worksheets will enable the students to memorize what they have learnt upon comparison of their answers with the answer key

Instructions to solve the worksheet

It is easy to observe on the first worksheet, that the children are asked to find the missing addend.

For eg. in the very first problem ( this was illustrated in the introduction, but will be repeated here for further clarity) in the questionnaire, the student is asked to find the missing addend. He has to fill in the value of blank space in the following sum:

3 + __ = 4

It's obvious that like mentioned above in the introduction, that the student will learn to familiarize themselves with the basic concept of addition.

He also will notice that this is the 'answer key' in which all the solutions to the questionnaire are given for the child's convenience. This is usually the case with other worksheets, but this worksheet's answer key has some error so kindly ignore it.

Conclusion

In this particular worksheet the student is asked to answer the questions and compare the answers.upon doing that what will he learn? The children will learn proper use of the answer key, i.e. they will learn to use this resource to check if their calculations according to the first sheet are right.

But in this case the answer sheet is wrong. So don't look at it at all!

The students will learn to use an answer key to memorize basic math concepts like addition.

Here it's very clear that this is intended to teach a simple math concept in an easy to learn fashion. It also includes colorful text that is interesting for the young student, and will keep him engaged in the learning process.
