Introduction:

Here are a few tips for using the given maths worksheets for basic addition sums. These worksheets are only meant for students of class 1. You will find some easy tips that you can read in this article that will help you to use this worksheet more easily.

Here is a brief description:

Just like most of the 2 page maths worksheets that have been provided, these worksheets consist of two main things : 1) list of questions and 2) a basic answer sheet containing all the solutions

In these worksheets, the students 'objective is to find the sum of 2 double digit numbers.

How will these worksheets help the young students?

The students who are very young and still new even to basic maths concepts like basic addition, will slowly learn to familiarise themselves with these very basic ground-roots level of maths.

At first even the thought of adding the sum of two given numbers, understanding 2 digit numbers, and even performing the basic addition and carry over in the case of double digit addition is something 'difficult' and is still something 'new' to them.

Completion of the worksheets given below will also enable the students to understand the basic maths procedures they are learning. The repetitive practice also helps to learn these things.

Instructions to solve the worksheet

We can see here for ourselves that on the first worksheet, there are few additional sums given. For eg., the first question in this worksheet is basically only about adding two numbers.

  1 4

+ 1 2
_________

Explanation of eg. 1.

in sheet 1 on the first line, in column 1, the student is asked to do a basic addition sum. In this sum, the student has to add the total of 14 (double digit number) and 12 (2 digit number).the resulting answer is 26 ( you can check it on the answer sheet)

He may use his fingers to count, if he doesn't have access to a calculator. He can also perform the carry over more easily using this method.

It's obvious that like it was mentioned above in the introduction, the student will learn to familiarise themselves with the basic concept of addition if they concentrate and do ‘all’ the exercises in the worksheet.

Even though the second worksheet that is provided looks very similar to the first sheet, upon closer observation, the child himself, without help from anyone, will be able to find out that both pages are indeed not the same. The child will also notice that the second sheet is an 'answer key' in which all the solutions to the questionnaire in sheet 1 are given.

Conclusion :

Again, In this worksheet too, the student is asked to answer the questions given in the questionnaire and then compare the solution given in the answer key.

The children will understand the proper use of the answer key.

The students will understand how to use an answer key not only to check answers but also to memorise key maths concepts that are part of the class maths curriculum.

Finally, this exercise will teach the young students how to do the simple maths concept of addition using double digits in an easy to perform fashion.

Also note that colourful text is being used. This is very interesting for a young student. Remember that this is a great way to keep the student engaged in learning.
