EVS Worksheet : Plants Worksheets For Class 2 Kids
Plant’s Needs
Trees are all tall ,small ,short and big land plants of the earth that usually survive for many years. They are woody plants that attain a height of about 4.5 metres (15 feet) after attaining maturity and are found all over the world in high numbers.
All plants have some basic environmental value and provide us with many Necessary benefits, such as producing oxygen, purifying the atmosphere, conserving water, preventing soil erosion, giving habitat to a wide variety of insects, birds, and animals.
Plants are everywhere around us, but how do they grow?
There are many things plants need for their growth such as water, nutrients, air, water, light, temperature, space, and time.
WATER
Like humans , animals and every other creature ,plants also need both water and nutrients (food) to survive. Mostly all plants use water to carry moisture and nutrients back and forth between the roots and leaves. Water, as well as nutrients, is normally taken up by the plants through the roots from the soil. This is why it’s important to water plants when the soil becomes dry.
AIR
Fresh, clean air and healthy soil is very important for plants to grow. Dirty air caused by smoke, gases, and other pollutants can be harmful to plants, limiting their ability to take in carbon dioxide from the air for making food (photosynthesis) And causing difficulties in their survival. It can also block out sunlight, which is most necessary for healthy plant growth.
SOIL
Healthy soil is extremely essential and vital to plants. In addition to essential nutrients found in soil (from organic matter and microorganisms), soil provides an anchor for plant roots to support the plants.
LIGHT
Plants need sunlight to grow. Light is used as an energy source for making food by a process called photosynthesis. Too dim light can make plants weak and leggy looking. This will also cause them to have fewer flowers and fruits.
TEMPERATURE
Temperature is important too. Most plants prefer cooler night-time temps and warmer daytime temperatures. In Too hot conditions they may burn, too cold and they will freeze.
SPACE
Space is yet another factor to consider when talking about growing plants. Both the roots and foliage (leaves) need proper space to grow. Overcrowded plants are more likely to suffer from diseases since airflow may be limited.
TIME
Finally the plants require time. They cannot grow overnight. It takes time and patience for plants to grow plants, some more so than others. Most plants require a specific number of days, months, or even years to produce flowers and fruit.
Instructions to solve the worksheet
Given below are some pictures for your child to identify and study the different things that a plant needs to grow, so help them to and learn to understand the concept by filling each of the boxes using the hints given in the suggestion box.
Importance of Environmental Education
- EVS helps children to develop their own insights into the functioning of several things or understanding human processes in their environment. Such interactions with their surrounding environment are immensely important for the healthy development of children.
- Not only does environmental education offer opportunities for experiential learning outside of the classroom, it enables students to make connections and apply their learning in the real world.
- EVS helps learners see the interconnectedness of social, ecological, economic, cultural, and political issues
- By providing environmental education to students they will engage problem-solving techniques of the outer world to their subjects to understand a particular problem by implying outdoor environmental solutions.
- Environmental Education gives students a new meaning of exploring mother nature to see and resolve the issues which are harmful to the environment and this will also help them in maintaining their own health by doing physical work so that their bodies will be immune from some serious health issues such as short-sightedness, obesity and in some cases even lack concentration.
- The one major issue which we need to deal with is pollution and if we don’t educate our kids about the hazardous effects of environmental damage there will be no future in the world.
