Suggests skill assessment can reduce the school dropouts significantly
Offers assessment module in line with the NEP
New Delhi, 2 April, 2021: Lrnable Group, a group of learning, skilling and talent transformation platforms, has written to Dy Chief Minister of Delhi for Education, Manish Sisodia, for an active participation in the pedagogical transformation of bringing education at the doorsteps in an inclusive manner, right from schools to higher education level.
Vikram Kumar, CEO, Lrnable Group, said, “We are into a journey of pedagogical transformation and replacement of existing rote learning model. The idea is to be in tune with the competency-based modules, which aim to prepare the country’s children and youth for 21st century as suggested in the New Education Policy too.” We want to pick Delhi as a model state and intend to arrest the school dropouts significantly, he added.
Notably, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), recently, launched a competency-based assessment framework for classes 6-10 for three subjects, viz, English (reading), Science, and Maths.
Creating virtual model school is one of the most progressive plans announced by the Delhi Government, recently. “Here, Lrnable Group would be open to offering different online learning modules, experiential learning, gamified learning to engage students, developing communication skills- both verbal and written, online testing platform to conduct exams at primary and secondary and senior secondary level as well as for education and skilling institutions which come under Delhi government’s jurisdiction”, said Kumar.
Also, the group has already signed an MoU with AICTE and the Centre for Electronic Governance (CEG) Rajasthan, last month, with an objective to offer experiential learning to students under NEAT 2.0 initiative and to transform the learning and recruitment landscape in Rajasthan respectively.
Under the NEAT 2.0 initiative, the group through its Mytat platform, offers a ‘Continuous Learning and evaluation’ programme to measure and improve the employability of millions of students, helping educational institutions to understand the industry benchmarks and customize training levels for students accordingly. Whereas, with CEG, Lrnable Group would work towards bridging the academia-industry gap with additional focus on mapping the complete learning lifecycle of students in an educational institute/a company including career pathing along with learning and upgrading skills.
In its letter to the Delhi Government, the group highlighted the gaps in the education and skilling system, which impact not just the career path of an individual but his contribution to the economy as well. At present, nearly 80 per cent of new entrants to the country’s workforce get little or no opportunity for skills education. Merely 2.5% of the Indian workforce is exposed to formal vocational training. 5% of Indian technical/ non-technical graduates are unemployable, giving rise to what people coin as an “Industry- institute gap”.
“For transformation to take place, partnerships between the government and capable facilitators for wider reach, viz, students and teachers across all education institutions, are need of the hour. The scalability of learning and skill assessment can leapfrog while leveraging technology through ed-tech and skill providers like Lrnable Group”, said Kumar.
He added further, the online assessment services can be made accessible to all the students to check aptitude, knowledge, psychometric and cognitive skills too, and the results could help to build those skills stronger in future.
In its letter, the Group also proposed the behavioural skill training for building a sensitive and productive workforce, for which teachers need to be trained first so that they are effectively imparting the desired skills. The group has the capabilities to design a Training of Trainers (TOT) programme for all teachers after accessing the skill gaps in a very scientific way.
The Group's Mytat Recruitment and Mytat Classes platforms, allow an individual/ institution to assess the skill gap, help build the skills (through Lrnable courses), as in-demand and get connected to organisations/corporates across various industries while mapping an individual’s career growth.
