How to Prepare CLAT 2022

CLAT or Common Law Admission Test is a gateway to enter some of the Top NLUs or even some leading educational institutes also grant admission through CLAT 2022. Preparation for CLAT Exam 2022 without coaching is definitely a difficult task to crack but not impossible if you have a proper plan and strategy.

CLAT 2022 Exam Pattern

CLAT 2022 will be a 2-hour test, which will have around 150 multiple-choice questions each carrying 1 mark each. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer and no marks will be reduced for an unanswered question.

• 1^st Know the marking scheme

It is imperative that you should know the marking scheme. You should know which section would be the most suitable one for you to gain the marks needed to crack CLAT.

• Try to Build Strong Conceptual Understanding

For an exam as demanding as CLAT, you need to have a strong conceptual understanding of the core. Brush up your core, basics and revise important concepts frequently to develop a good hold over concepts asked in the examination.

• Practice and analyse

Once your fundamentals are clear enough, it is important to write the practice test on the very same day for reinforcement of the concept. It will strengthen your basics of conceptual understanding and allow you to assess your weak areas. 

• Understand the CLAT syllabus

This is the single most important tip and the most common mistake that many students make. Time and again, we have seen students spending a heavy amount of time on Mathematics and Logical Reasoning, solving tougher and tougher problems and finding their solutions from a wide range of topics.

• Writing Mock Tests

A student should definitely plan to write a few mock tests. However, it is advised to finish at least 70% to 80% of the syllabus before starting the mocks. That’s the only way that you will receive any benefit from writing the mock test. Always Look for a good mock test series, and aim to write at least 6-8 CLAT previous years' papers before the actual exam. Reproduce the exam conditions as much as possible – including the time limit and turning your phone off to avoid possible distractions!

• Question Selection

 It is very essential to remember that all questions carry equal marks and there are no sectional cut-offs in CLAT! So feel free to start from any section you are comfortable with, and if a question is taking too much time avoid or skip it without prejudice.

• English

Being strong in Reading Comprehension and basic grammar will take you a long way in the English section of any exam. Remember to also practice Para jumble sentences as CLAT has traditionally favoured them.
