On the occasion of ‘National Reading Day’, DPS Raj Nagar Extension Ghaziabad organized an inter house book review competition to honor the Silver Jubilee of P N Panicker Library movement for promoting reading as a habit among the young students. The session commenced with the welcome speech by Ms. Panchali Deb, English Teacher and introduction of around 10 participants from Classes IX & XII.
Ravi, Chenab, Jhelum, Ganges and Yamuna; the five House of the school had two participants each for presenting the book review on non-fictional books like 'I am Malala' by Christian Lamb and Malala Yousafzai, 'My Little Epiphanies' by Aisha Chaudhary, 'When Breath Becomes Air' by Paul Kalanithi etc.
Ms. Pallavi Upadhyay, Principal and Ms. Priyanca Ghosh, Headmistress, DPS RNE were the judges of the competition. They had a brief QnA round with each student around their books to get a better understanding of the students’ comprehensive skills.
Expressing the importance of cultivating reading as a habit among the children, Ms. Pallavi Upadhyaya said, “We at DPS RNE have always focused on imbibing distinct abilities in our students, reading being one of the most crucial life-skills always help the students even in their adulthood to be more knowledgeable and aware than others. It is a life-skill that elevates the cognition levels of an individual to quite a good extent.” The competition ended with a word of encouragement from Ms. Pallavi Upadhyaya who appreciated the efforts of all participating students.
