New Delhi, February 23rd. 2021: The global higher education sector has demonstrated resilience during the challenging period of COVID-19. In Israel, theCouncil for Higher Education together with all Israeli universities and instituteshave invested significant energy to preventthe pandemic from disrupting education and to enablestudentsto continue to engage in excellence. Efforts have been focused on ensuring that studying in Israel remains accessible, welcoming, and safe for international students andresearchers.
In this respect, the Council for Higher Education ofIsrael is organising a virtual fair for potential international students who are interested in furthering their education and looking for the best academic program for them. Scheduled on 7thMarch 2021, the virtual fair aims to provide potential students the opportunity to learn about the distinctive and engaged approach to education that Israel offers its students and to speak directly to university and college representatives about their options.Information will be shared about the various programs, fields of study and institutions in Israel.
Marissa Gross Yarm, Head of International Student Affairs, Council for Higher Education, Israel, said, “The Study in Israel Virtual Fair aims to be a highly interactive experience. The fair is the perfect opportunity for students to interact with representatives from Israeli academic institutions, as well ascurrent Indian studentsfrom various Israeli universities, tolearn about the programs offered, scholarships and financial aid available, student experience, safety, visa processes and other travel and Covid safety information.”
Israel has a total of 61higher education institutions, including nine world-class universities, 32 colleges, and 21 teacher training colleges.Out of thenine universities in Israel, seven were featured in the 2020 U.S. News Best Global Universities rankings. The universities offer hundreds of Bachelors, Masters, PhD and short-term courses in English.
The country is currently home to over 1200 Indian students and has been actively encouraging students from India to Study in Israel. Even during the pandemic, Israel issued student visas and enabled international students to commence their studies in the beginning of the2020-2021 academic year. A special chartered flight from Mumbai to Tel Aviv brought 100 returning and new PhD and postdoctoral researchers at all eight research universities in Israel during the pandemic. International students in Israel, Indians included, are also currently benefiting from the country’s rigorous vaccine drive.
This virtualfair will help participants gather knowledge about opportunities that Israel offers by attending detailed webinars, info sessions, initiatinglive chats with universityrepresentatives and receiving advice from the Council of Higher Education.
