University of Washington (Foster) Seattle , Founded in 1861 by a private gift of 10 acres in what is now the heart of downtown Seattle, the UW is one of the largest and oldest public universities on the West Coast. The university has three campuses, with its largest campus in the University District, Seattle and two other campuses Tacoma and Bothell. The UW occupies over 500 buildings, with over 20 million gross square footage of space, including the latest University of Washington Plaza consisting 325 ft- 22 story UW Tower & conference center.
As the stateâ??s flagship university, the UW serves more students than any other institution in the Northwest â?? more than 92,000 annually. In addition to UW Seattle, the university has thriving campuses in Tacoma and Bothell and a robust professional and continuing education program.
