Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is a state-level examination, which is held once a year, to conduct the recruitment process both for the primary (1-5 class) and for the upper primary (6-8 class) level teachers in the Uttar Pradesh Schools. The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) conducts the UPTET exam. Last year, UPTET 2024 did not hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, UPBEB will conduct the UPTET 2024 in 2024.

Eligibility

UPTET has two sets of applicants - Applicants for Primary Teachers (Classes 1 to 5) and Applicants for Upper Primary Teachers (Classes 6 to 8).

UPTET 2024 Nationality: The aspirants who are belonging to India/ Nepal/ Tibet/ Bhutan, are eligible for the exam.

UPTET 2024 Age limit: The age of the applicant must be between18 Years and 35 Years. Candidates who belong to reserved categories would be given age relaxation as per the norms prescribed by the government.

Candidates who belong to the general category (UR) should be more than or equal to 18 Years and less than 35 Years of age. There is age relaxation for reserved categories which is shown below:

UPTET 2024 Educational Qualification: The educational qualification both for the paper I and II are different.

Primary Teachers (Classes I-V)
  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks from recognized university & 2 years Diploma (D.Ed) from N.C.T.E/ Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). OR
  • Bachelor’s degree & 2 years B.T.C., C.T. (Nursery)/ Nursery Teacher Training (NTT) OR
  • Bachelor’s degree & qualification in Special B.T.C. Training OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years & BCT Urdu special training in Uttar Pradesh OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and Diploma in Teaching from Aligarh Muslim University (For Urdu Teacher) or Moallim-E-Urdu Degree before 11-08-1997
Upper Primary Teachers (Classes VI-VIII)
  • Bachelor’s degree & B.T.C from National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) approved institute OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks & B.Ed/ B.Ed Special Education from Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) OR
  • Intermediate (10+2) with minimum 50% marks & 4 year B.A/ B.S.C.Ed/ B.A.Ed from N.C.T.E./ U.G.C recognized institute OR
  • Intermediate (10+2) with minimum 50% marks & 4 year Degree (B.El.Ed) in Primary Education OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum 45% & B.Ed degree
Primary Sanskrit & English teachers (Classes I-V)
  • Bachelor’s degree with Sanskrit/English as the main subject AND
  • B.C.T from NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) approved institute OR

The UPTET 2024 application form can be filled in online mode only. Go through the following steps:

Admit Card

The UPTET 2024 admit card will be available online mode only at the official website of UPTET. Candidates have to log in to atupdeled.gov.in with their registration number and password to download the admit card.

Steps to Download UPTET 2024 Admit Card:
  • Visit the official website of UPTET
  • Click on UPTET 2024 Admit Card link
  • Provide all the necessary details- UPTET Registration Number and Password/ Date of Birth
  • Click on Submit button
  • UPTET Admit Card would appear on the screen
  • Verify all the mentioned details and take their printout.

Exam Pattern

UPTET 2024 will be conducted in two separate papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 will be conducted for candidates applying for the appointment of a teacher for classes 1 to 5.

Whereas, Paper 2 will be conducted for the appointment of the teacher for classes 6 to 8.

  • Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be conducted in offline mode.
  • Paper 1 includes 5 subjects/sections and Paper 2 includes 4 subjects/sections.
  • The duration of both the papers is 2.5 hrs (or 150 minutes)
  • Objective type multiple choice questions are asked in the exam.
  • 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer and there is no provision of negative marking in UPTET.
  • There are 150 questions in both the papers and every question carries 4 options, out of which only 1 would be correct.

Selection Process

The UPTET selection process includes the following stages.

Release of UPTET notification: The UPTET exam process begins with the release of official notification. The notification contains the important details including the application process, eligibility criteria, important dates, exam pattern, syllabus, and others.

UPTET application form: The second stage involves the UPTET application process. Candidates need to fill the application form to appear for the UPTET examination.
Issue of UPTET admit card: The UPTET admit card is issued to those candidates who successfully submit their applications for the exam. Candidates need to download the admit card and carry it to the exam center on the day of the examination.

Conduct of UPTET exam: UPTET exam consists of two papers. Paper 1 needs to be given by aspirants who plan to teach Classes 1 to 5. Paper 2 needs to be given by candidates who plan to teach Classes 6 to 8. Candidates who plan to teach Classes 1 to 8 need to appear for both papers.

UPTET result: UPTET result is announced by the exam conducting authority on the official website of the exam. Candidates scoring a minimum of 60 percent marks in the written exam are declared qualified.

UPTET eligibility certificate: Candidates qualifying for the test are issued an eligibility certificate by the exam authority. Candidates having the certificate are eligible to apply for teaching jobs in the schools of Uttar Pradesh. The validity of the UPTET eligibility certificate is now extended for a lifetime.

Result

The official UPTET 2024 Answer Keys will be released before the result declaration.

  • The notification for the result will be published in the major newspapers of Uttar Pradesh.
  • The result would be announced on the UPTET Website.
  • Candidate can check their result by logging in with their roll number.

Expected Cutoff

UP Basic Education Board releases cut off based on certain criteria defined within the board. The cut off as decided is as follows:

  • Candidates belonging to the general category who score 60% (90/150 marks) of the total marks would be considered qualified for the UPTET Recruitment.
  • The required qualifying score for reserved category candidates is 55% marks (83/150 marks).
  • Candidates, who qualify for UPTET, would be accorded the UPTET eligibility certificate.
