TSTET exam or Telangana State Teacher Eligibility Test is a qualifying examination conducted by the Telangana Government's Department of School Education. Qualifying in TSTET is essential to apply for the post of teacher at any schools that come under the government of Telangana. Vacancy

TSTET exams are conducted to appoint eligible candidates to the vacancy of teachers in schools under the Telangana government.

  • The official website of authorities publishes a list of the number of vacancies in various teaching departments.
  • After the vacancy list and official TSTET notification have been published, candidates can apply through the registration link.
  • The vacancy notification for TSTET 2020 has not been published yet by the Telangana government.

Eligibility Criteria

The TSTET examination consists of two papers, which are conducted to determine the eligibility of the candidates for various levels of teaching posts. Those candidates who clear Paper I will be eligible to apply for teaching posts in the primary classes and if the candidate qualified in Paper II, they will be eligible for teaching in secondary sections.

The prescribed eligibility criteria laid down by the Telangana government to appear for the paper I and II are as follows;

TSTET Eligibility for Paper-I (Primary Classes I - V)
  • Candidates should have qualified class XII or equivalent with at least 50% of the aggregate mark. For SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates, the minimum percentage is 45.
  • Candidates should have a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education/ four-year Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education (B El Ed)/ two-year Diploma in Special Education.

OR

  • Candidates should have cleared class XII or equivalent with at least 45% marks. For SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates, the minimum percentage is 40.
  • Candidates should have a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education/ four-year Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education (B El Ed)/ two-year Diploma in Special Education.

Note- The above eligibility criteria for Paper I are only valid for candidates who have cleared or are pursuing D El Ed/ D Ed courses, before the official declaration of TS TET notification for the respective year.

TSTET Eligibility for Paper-II (Secondary Classes VI-VIII)
  • Candidates appearing for TSTET Paper-II must fulfill any of the set of eligibility criteria given below.
  • Candidates should have passed BA/ BSc. / B.Com with a minimum of 50% aggregate. For SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates, 45% of aggregate marks are eligible.
  • Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.)/ Bachelor of Education specializing in Special Education.

OR

  • Candidates must have passed BA/BSc. / B.Com with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates can apply with 40% aggregate marks.
  • Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.) / Bachelor of Education specializing in Special Education.

Note- The above eligibility criteria for Paper II are only valid for candidates who have cleared or who are currently pursuing B.Ed. courses, before the official declaration of TSTET notification for the respective year.

OR

  • Candidates should have cleared four-year BA Ed / BSc. Ed course with at least 50% aggregate marks. SC/ ST/ OBC/ PwD candidates can apply with 45% aggregate marks.

OR

  • Candidates should have qualified Bachelor of Oriental Language or its equivalent/Graduation in Literature/ Graduation with Language as one of the optional subjects/ Post-graduation in the language concerned.
  • Candidates should also have a Language Pandit Training Certificate or cleared B.Ed. with Language concerned as one of the methodologies. This criterion applies to language teachers only.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year B Ed examination/ Diploma in Elementary Education are also eligible to apply for TSTET 2020.

Note- The diploma/ Degree course of a candidate in teacher education should be recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). However, for candidates possessing a diploma in education (special education) and B.Ed. special education, the course should be recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) only.

Exemption from appearing in the exam

Please note that teachers who were appointed by a competent authority in Government /Local Authority before NCTE notification, released on 23 August 2010, are exempted from appearing for TET. However, teachers who are working in private schools and whose appointments were not approved by a competent authority of the Government are not exempted from appearing for TET under this rule.

Application Process

  • The application process for the TSTET examination commences only after the declaration of notification.
  • The mode of application is online, and the official webpage will be active only during the time of the registration process.
  • The first step in applying for TSTET is paying the required application fee through the payment gateway provided on the official website.
  • The application fee for the TSTET exam is 200/-

Candidates can then fill in the online application form with relevant and true information.

During the time of application, the candidate should possess the following documents to complete the application.

  • Scanned copy of your latest photograph in JPEG format
  • Scanned copy of signature in JPEG format
  • Scanned copy of Class X certificate

Note-The size of the documents should comply with the size requirements mentioned in the application form.

After successfully applying, candidates should keep a printout of the completed application and their ID number for future references.

Admit Card

The admit cards for TSTET exams will be available on the official website of the Telangana government, once the registration for the respective year is closed. Admit cards for TSTET 2020 are not yet published.

Candidates are advised to follow official notifications and stay updated to not miss any important announcements in this regard.

To download the admit card:
  • Candidates should visit the official website and go to the Admit Card section.
  • Enter candidate ID and date of birth to download a soft copy of the admit card.
  • After downloading your TSTET admit card, check all the information on it.
  • In case, if any error has crept in it, contact the concerned authority for immediate correction. If the admit card is error-free, print out a copy of it to produce in front of the invigilator on the exam day.
  • Please make sure that you carry the printout of the admit card to the exam center along with any of the ID proof. Candidates without admit cards will not be allowed to appear for the TSTET exam.

Exam Pattern

There are two papers in the TSTET exam. Paper I is for candidates who wish to apply for a teaching post in the primary section (standard I to V), and Paper II is for candidates who want to apply for teaching positions in the secondary section (standard VI to VIII).

  • Those candidates who want to apply for both primary and secondary sections should qualify in both paper I, and paper II.
  • The TSTET examination's question paper will be in bilingual format, where questions will be in English and also in the Language I chose. For candidates who choose Sanskrit as their Language I, the question paper will be in Telugu and Sanskrit.
  • The candidates who choose the rest of the languages mentioned in the Language I options must have studied that particular language as a medium of study or first language, at least up to class 10th.
  • Each correct answer in the TSTET exam is awarded 1 mark. There is no negative marking for wrong answers.

The results for the TSTET exam are declared through the official website. Candidates will be required to enter details like hall ticket numbers to obtain their results.

To qualify in TSTET, the minimum mark requirement for different categories is as follows:

Salary

The basic pay scale of teachers in Telangana government schools ranges from 20,000 - 70,000 per month according to the 2015 revision. This amount includes the basic pay + HRA + DA and other allowances. As a government sector job, the allowances available for teachers at Telangana covers medical expenses, accommodation allowances, etc. State also provides retirement pension plans for the teachers and beneficiary pension plans for the dependents of the retired employees.
