Kerala PSC stands for Kerala Public Service Commission, it is a body created on 1st November 1956 by the Constitution of India under Article 320(3) to select civil servants for the Indian state of Kerala according to the merits of the applicants and the rules of reservation. The exam is conducted annually by the government of Kerala to recruit officers into the different wings of the state administration departments under the Kerala State Government.

Kerala PSC Selection Process
The chairman of the Kerala PSC, Mr MK Saker, has informed about the change in exam pattern through his tweet and that this new exam pattern will be implemented from the 2024 admission cycle that is from the December application process.
According to the KPSC authorities, this new pattern will benefit in terms of making the selection process easier and precise for filling vacancies of different grade posts. They will also release final lists after the declaration of Mains results in 2024 of the marks secured by the qualified candidates.
Marks obtained in the preliminary examination will only help candidates to confirm his/her eligibility to appear in the Mains examination. Marks of Preliminary examination will not be added to the Mains score list.
All the updates regarding the new examination pattern will soon be uploaded on the official website of the Kerala public service commission.
The selection process of KPSC will be conducted in three stages:
- Preliminary examination.
- Mains
- Interview and GD.
The candidates should mandatorily clear the Prelims exam with a good score according to the cut-off for being able to appear for the mains and get selected for the Interview round.
Kerala PSC Exam Pattern
KPSC preliminary and mains both examinations take place under the strict supervision and guidance of the government.
Preliminary Exam
- The prelims examination includes two papers viz. General studies and Language proficiencies.
- The total duration for every paper is 90 minutes.
- The medium of the paper will be English and Malayalam and it consists of multiple-choice type of questions.

Mains Exam
- The Mains examination has three papers: Subject paper according to the stream (all descriptive type)
- The total duration for every paper is 2 hours.
- The medium of paper will be in both languages i.e., English, Malayalam, and Hindi (optional).

Kerala PSC Exam Syllabus
As a new examination pattern was introduced on 16th August 2020, therefore there are chances of change in the syllabus as well; the doubts related to the same will be cleared out as soon as a notification regarding this is released.
The most common and basic content of the syllabus may include:
- Politics of post-independent India.
- Knowledge about the heritage of India with an emphasis on the 20th century.
- Present economic background of India
- Environmental issues and developmental aspects.
- Science and technology including basic knowledge of physics, chemistry, biology, and maths( respective important topics)
- The economy of state Kerala.
- History of state Kerala and knowledge about the ancient and modern heritage of the state.
- Social, cultural aspects of modern and rural society.
- Issues related to food security
- Food security.
- Empowerment of women in past and present society.
- Geographical nature of the state of Kerala.
- Role of non-residents of India
- Role of residents of India.
- Ecological land act, 2005

Kerala PSC Admit Card
According to the given schedule, the admit cards will be released on the official website by December or January on the main website of the Kerala public service commission, the admit cards are available almost a month ago to the Prelims exam and by August for the mains examination
Important Points to remember:
- Separate admit cards will be issued for both the Preliminary and mains examination.
- Applicants need to be very active with the official website to get updated.
Admit cards can be downloaded once made available from the official website and it consists of personal information about the candidate like:
- Name of the candidate.
- Enrollment no. and Roll number allotted to a candidate.
- Photograph and signature of the candidate.
- Address of the examination center allotted
- Time to reach the examination center on the day of examination.
- Dos and don’ts, plus dress code to be followed.
- A candidate needs to bring a printed copy of a digitally generated admit card to the examination center on the day of examination along with one id proof.
Candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination premises without an admit card.
Exam Application
The application process will be held completely through the online mode. To apply for the KPSC exam the candidates should visit the official website of the KPSC and login/register themselves via generating a one-time registration pin.
In the next section, they will be asked to opt for the desired post for which the candidate is applying and after filling in all the required details, they have to click on the “apply now “button.
The later application form will be redirected to check and verify sections where candidates have to confirm the provided details by themselves and have to upload the documents like a photograph of the candidate, signature, thumb impression, etc. according to the mentioned format by the officials.
After uploading certain documents, fees will be deducted through online banking/ debit/ credit cards, NEFT, etc.
At the end of the whole admission process, it is a must for the applicant to take a printout of the confirmation slip and registration card for future references.

Kerala PSC Eligibility Criteria
- Any graduate/ post-graduate/ professional degree holder from a recognized institution/university which is affiliated to UGC (Union Grant Commission) and NAAC or its equivalent with 50% aggregate (for General category) and 45% aggregate (for OBC/SC/ST) from any stream can apply for the Kerala public service commission examination 2024 (stream 1, stream 2 and stream 3).
- Candidates should also be qualified according to the requirement of the desired post as per mentioned eligibility card provided/percentile needed by the officials on their website.
- The applicants must be Indian citizens, along with a permanent domicile of the state of Kerala.
- Candidates must have a valid address, domicile proof with them at the time of applying for the selection process.
- The age limit is different from a minimum of 21 years to a maximum of 30 years. Relaxation will be provided to the upper limit in categories like physically disabled, below the poverty line, widows, OBC, and unreserved (SC/ST).
- Age relaxation can be given up to a maximum of 10 years.

- It is a must for every candidate to be physically fit and have a medical certificate with them at the time of the interview, prescribed by a certified doctor.
- To apply for the stream 2 vacancies, it is a must for the candidate to hold regular working experience under any government official in Kerala state along with the above mentioned basic requirements and should not hold any kind of penalty, suspension, criminal offences during their working tenure ship of 3-5 years.
- To apply for the stream 3 vacancies, it is a must for the applicant to complete the period of probation in government cadre and should not have completed 50 years of age on and before 01.01.2024
