The APSC viz. Assam Public Service Commission was established in 1937 in accordance with the provision of the Government of India. The Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) is conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission every year to recruit deserving eligible candidates for various posts. Aspirants with a graduation degree from a well-known university or institute are eligible to take this exam. The APSC CCE Prelims Exam 2024 is to be conducted on September 12, 2024.

Candidates after clearing this examination will get appointed at various posts within the administrative departments of the state of Assam.

The Assam Public Service Commission has announced the recruitment notification related to 331 vacancies which will be filled by deserving and eligible candidates in September 2024. Candidates are going to be selected for different posts under Labour Inspector, Taxes Inspector, Sub Registrar, Superintendent of Taxes, Assam Civil Service, Assam Police Service, Officer at District Transport, among others. Candidates can apply from September 10 to October 25, 2024.

APSC Eligibility Criteria

Candidates planning to give the APSS CCE exam must check the eligibility criteria mentioned below so that they can judge whether they are the right fit for the post or not.

Nationality: Only Indian citizens are allowed.

Age Limit: The candidate’s minimum age must be at least 21 years and no one older than 38 years of age as of the year of the exam will be allowed to give the exam. Some candidates get the age relaxation as per norms set by the Indian Government.

  • Candidates belonging to the reserved categories will get age relaxation in the upper age limit.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ ST category get relaxation by 5 years.
  • OBC category candidates get upper age relaxation by 3 years.

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a graduation degree from a recognized university or college.

The candidates whose results will be declared after the closing date of submission are not eligible to apply.

Steps to Apply for APSC Recruitment

All the eligible candidates are supposed to apply only and can fill the application form following the guidelines mentioned on the official site.

  • Candidates are supposed to access the official site.
  • On the home page, click on the APSC CCE Recruitment tab.
  • After doing APSC CCE Registration using an email ID and password, click on the Login Page and mention your credentials.
  • The candidates need to mention the much-required information in the application form like complete name, address, contact number, and other important information required there.
  • Upload your photograph, signature along with uploading all the scanned required documents.
  • Pay the application fees using your credit or debit card. Payments can be made using net banking as well.
  • Once all the processes related to the application are done successfully, candidates are supposed to click on the Submit button.

APSC Selection Process

The Selection Process for the APSC Civil Services is divided into the following stages:

  • Prelims
  • Mains
  • Interview

It is mandatory for the candidates to pass all the stages of the exam so that they can get selected as a Civil Service Officer in APSC. The Examination for APSC CCE will be taken Offline.

APSC Exam Pattern

The APSC CCE Exam has three stages. Each stage has its own Exam Pattern, which will be discussed here-

APSC Prelims Exam Pattern

The APSC CCE Prelims Exam is like a screening test only as the score achieved in this first round will not be considered while calculating the final scores. But it is important to clear this stage to proceed further.

  • The APSC CCE Prelims test will have two MCQ papers, whose combined duration is 4 hours (120 minutes each).
  • All questions will be MCQs.
  • Candidates will be provided with an Optical Mark Recognition answer sheet.
  • Candidates are supposed to use only a black or blue color ball pen.
  • For each wrong attempt, a ¼ score will get a minus.
  • Candidates clicking on more than one answer will result in negative marking.
  • The General Studies II paper will be qualifying in nature and one needs to get at least 33% marks

APSC Mains Exam Pattern

Only those who cleared the first stage will be considered to give the next round test. The questions asked in the mains exam will be of conventional type. The marks secured in these levels will not be considered at the time of the final merit list. However, the minimum qualifying marks obtained in Paper ‘A’ and Paper ‘B’ is 25%. The detailed exam pattern of APPSC CCE Mains is mentioned below.

Qualifying Language Papers

Paper A (300 marks– 180 minutes)– any one of the languages from Assamese, Bengali, Bodo. Candidates belonging to DimaHasao, Karbi Anglong, and West Karbi Anglong districts who don’t know these languages and did not study the same in their school will get an exemption from giving Paper A.

Paper B- English (300 marks- 180 minutes duration)

Interview Test

The board will take an interview of the candidates where their academic careers will be considered. The marks obtained in this round will be included in the marks scored in the Mains, and the ranks will be finalized based on the overall marks obtained. Candidates qualifying for the Main exam will be called for a viva-voce test. Marks in this round will be given out of 200.

APSC Answer Key

The answer key of APSC includes the right answers to questions presented in the APSC CCE exam. The answer key is made available by the authorities after the exams get over. Candidates can check separate answer keys for general studies papers and optional subjects. APSC answer keys of general studies can be accessed in PDF format. APSC CCE’s answer key helps candidates a lot in calculating the overall expected score based on the number of correct answers.

  • Log in to the official website using your credentials.
  • Click on the results option.
  • Submit all the required details like contact number, name, and registration ID.
  • The results will be shown on the screen.
  • Save the results and take a printout of the same for future use.
  • After the interviews get over, the final results will be announced by APSC.
