About Swarnim Gujarat Sports University - SGSU
Swarnim Gujarat Sports University (SGSU), Gandhinagar is a State Government University established to provide world class educators in the field of Physical Education and Sports. SGSU, Gandhinagar has also been established to produce world class sportsmen, coaches and technical officials. The University has been established by Government of Gujarat by an Act No. 22 of 2011 and recognized U/S 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956) and notified by Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department, Government of Gujarat. There are wide ranges of opportunities for students of physical education & sports sciences for making career in sports industry. The activities of sports and physical education were limited only to school and college levels due to which sports coaches and teachers were getting limited job opportunities. But in recent times, there are many opportunities in both public and private sectors. Untried and Unfamiliar sports fields such as Adventure Sports, Sports Management, Sports Event Management, Sports Tourism, Sports Law, Sports Journalism, Sports Nutrition, Sports Physiotherapy, Sports Massage etc. are rather untapped and students can make career in these fields and earn name, fame and money. GSU will commence new courses like โP.G. Diploma in Sports Tourismโ and โP.G. Diploma in Adventure Sports Administration to this affect. In fitness industry, there are fields like Sports Physiotherapy, Sports Nutrition and Medicine, Sports Massage and Sports Exercise therapy. There has been lack of experts in these fields in India. Another field is โDisability Sportsโ for those working for the disable people. SGSU will offer one year course โP.G. Diploma in Disability Sportsโ to prepare experts in this field.
