About Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management Shillong

Established in the year 2007, IIM Shillong or RGIIM is the 7th IIM which is known as one of the best business school in the nation. Named after the former prime minister, Rajiv Gandhi, the institute is set up in the state of Meghalaya under the approval of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) and the Chief Ministers of States of the region. The institute aims at providing premier quality education and research in the North Eastern region of India. IIM Shillong adopts new and innovative methods of learning in an effort to create unbeatable leaders for an economically and ecologically ideal society. Therefore, the students are provided with an amalgamation of compulsory and elective courses, supplemented by specialized courses on industry sectors.

Facilities

This institute is presently located on a temporary campus in Mayurbhanj Complex which is inclusive of an administrative office, faculty offices, classrooms, library and conference halls are housed. It also consists of an auditorium, guesthouse, number of small syndicate rooms (separate) and student dormitories within the campus. Faculty residences are also situated adjacent to the campus. The campus is to be shifted in a 120 acre site allotted by the government. It will comprise of everything from faculty rooms, lecture theaters, cafeteria, conference halls, video conferencing studio to library. It will also have a residential complex with facilities like auditorium, swimming pool and sports complex cum gymnasium, market complex, golf course & joggersâ?? paths. 

 
  • Information Technology Infrastructure: The Institute has augmented the initiative for an IT infrastructure to facilitate all its present and upcoming activities. Both wired and wireless network would serve as the backbone for the techno savvy faculty and students to assist in their regular work requirements. 
  • Class Rooms :Fully equipped classrooms with modern facilities and high tech infrastructure. Smart board, internet connectivity along with video conferencing facilities
  •  Library :The Institute has undertaken a process of developing a modern Learning Resource Centre with interdisciplinary focus on books, periodicals, national and international journals, working papers and dissertations. It would also cater to a number of online databases.
  • Hostels: Dormitories with both single and double occupancy rooms are available separately for boys and girls within the campus. Availing dormitory facilities is compulsory for all students.
