The Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "Kursk State Agricultural Academy named after I. I. Ivanov" is one of the largest agricultural universities of the Central Black Earth Region.On May 15, 1951, the Council of Ministers of the USSR adopted Decree No. 1618 on the creation of an agricultural institute in the Kursk region.Initially, the institute was located in the village.Maryino of the Kursk region.In its structure there were 3 faculties: agronomic, agricultural mechanization and hydrodromeliorative.The set of students in the year of opening of the university amounted to 275 people.The director was appointed a graduate of the Voronezh agricultural institute, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, Nicholas Ivanovich Solodovnikov.On August 30, 1951, order No. 15826-r was adopted on the opening of an agricultural institute in 1954 in the regional center-Kursk.Students were transferred to Voronezh SHI.In Kursk, the construction of the educational building and two dormitories for 440 seats each began.The set of students in Kursk was carried out in 1956 and amounted to 100 people in two faculties: agronomic and zootechnical.In the same year, the first six departments were discovered: chemistry, higher mathematics and physics with a course of meteorology, botany, crop production, physiology with a course of microbiology and military.In 1956, the educational and executive economy of the institute was organized, in 1958-the correspondence department, a one-year school and a six-month advanced training courses for leading personnel of collective farms and state farms.In 1961, the first set of students at the faculty of agricultural mechanization was held.At the end of 1963, the construction of the main educational building, which finally entered into operation in the fall of 1964, was completed.In 1966, the Faculty of Economics was opened, and in 1971 - veterinary.The Kursk Agricultural Institute turned into one of the largest agrarian universities in the country.
