The Know Institute of the Verkhnevolzhier has existed in the educational services market since 1993, it was then that the initiative group led by a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Peter Alekseevich Nikolaev and candidate of philological sciences Irina Nikolaevna Aksenova developed a project to create the first regional university, which will propose a completely new education of education and implement advanced educational technologies.The project was supported by the International Educational Center, the Tver Committee of Municipal Property, as well as the administration of the Tver State Technical University.Initially, the institute worked on the Global Volunteers grant program (USA), providing Tver enterprises with a unique opportunity to listen to master classes and participate in trainings of American specialists of the highest level.In December 1996, the Institute received a license from the Ministry of General and Professional Education of the Russian Federation for educational activities, then the first set of students was carried out in the direction of "Economics" and "Psychology".In 2001, the Upper Volga Institute of the Verkhnevolzhier received a certificate of state accreditation in the above areas.During its existence, the institute participated in various Russian and foreign programs.In 1999, the Institute for the first time won a grant under the CDC program (Citizens ’Democracy Corpse - a program to support small and medium -sized businesses) financed by the US State Agency for International Development (USAID).Then in 2001 the grant was re -won.For 4 years of work in the program, the Institute established contacts with American specialists in various fields of activity, and with enterprises and organizations of the city of Tver and the Tver region, which later moved into close business and friendly relations.
