There are in total 5 subjects in both the grades of the school. Some of the choices of subjects or core areas under the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) is

Humanities/Arts (any three out of History, Political science, Sociology, Psychology, Geography depending on the infrastructure and the availability of teachers in the school) With any of the three streams, English is the compulsory language subject, with various optional subjects available as the 5th subject. All the State Boards or Regional Boards also have 5 subjects with three mains which are the same as the core subjects of CBSE, one optional language namely Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali or others as per area and one compulsory language English.

The other international boards like IB and ICSE have subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, English, History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, Accountancy, Business Studies, Commerce, Computer Science, Physical Education etc. Among them, the students have to choose the 5 subjects according to interests and capabilities, with English as one of the compulsory subjects.

After two years of Secondary School, in grade 11, again the students are judged by the school organization as per the CBSE rules and instructions(if one is affiliated to the CBSE board) but are internally assessed within the school, and no standardised pan India exam is scheduled for them. After the completion of class 11, the students give the exams of Higher Secondary (School) and get certificates of HSC / HSSC by completing class 12th.

This schooling is important for the certificate and the age level of the student. Since with the Higher Secondary exams, one must prepare for the goals, he/she aspires and thus have an admission in the perfect college. So this school is sometimes done dummy too, for focussing on the real and actual career path of the individual.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)

The most popular board in India (By the Union Government of India) standardizes the overall education pattern and examination of the country. Generally, Pan India Schools are affiliated to the same, for standardization purposes.

Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE-ICSE/ISC)

A National level board for school education in India(privately held). This board focuses on practical learning, and thus evolves ways and judges the performance by practical exams, with approaches of the real world.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

International Baccalaureate is for children of age 3-19. This is not a very common mode of schooling education pattern. Hence every school doesn't offer IB boards as they are expensive and are thus considered prestigious and high-figh. It gives importance to Analytical skills, languages, arts and humanities; other than the traditional forms of education considered worthy like science and management. The students under this affiliation are headed to become global citizens.

The pattern of studying under the IB Board is segregated into 3 sections

Cambridge Assessment International Education (Cambridge International)

IGCSE and AS & A Level boardsand exams are under Cambridge International Course of study affiliated from the University of Cambridge. Cambridge curriculum starts from the age of 5 to 19 and mainly aims at developing curiosity and an infinite passion for learning.

State Boards

There are some area-specific Boards or State Boards like the Rajasthan Board, Maharashtra Board, Gujarat Board etc, which independently conduct examinations, with different courses and instructions, and altogether different patterns of marking scheme. Which subject is best for class 11?

If you are good with technology and it fascinates you, one can choose any analytical subjects. But if with technology, one is good with numerics and logics, Science can be a good fit for the same. You can opt for Physics, Chemistry, Maths (PCM). And if you want to be in the medical line, one can opt for Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology (PCM-B). If one is good with theory, history, culture one can opt for Humanities. And if one is good with Economy, business, Banks, Money System, Recording of trade transactions or so one can choose Commerce.

Is commerce better than science?

Though Commerce is easier than Science, it solely depends on the calibre and interest of the students to choose. There is nothing better or worse in terms of decision making, and it is all subjective.
