MPSC stands for Maharashtra Public Service Commission, it is a body created by the Constitution of India under article 315 to select Group 'A' and Group 'B' civil servants for the Indian state of Maharashtra according to the merits of the applicants and the rules of reservation. The exam is conducted annually by MPSC to recruit officers into the different wings of the state administration departments under the Maharashtra State Government.

The Government of India also conducts other exams under MPSC called Subordinate Services, Class C Services, Engineering Services, Agriculture Services, Judicial Services, etc.

MPSC Eligibility Criteria

MPSC Educational Qualification

The educational criteria for MPSC exams are:

• Competency in Marathi
• Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.

As the MPSC exams cover a broad range of posts and services, there are post-specific eligibility criteria (educational qualification and/or physical fitness).

Few posts require the aspirants to have subject-specific expertise as mandated by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission.

MPSC Physical Measurements

There is a fitness requirement for a few of the MPSC posts which specifies the physical fitness/measurements in their eligibility requirements. Posts such as Dy Superintendent of Police or related to the Transport department have specific physical eligibility criteria.

The minimum height for the post of DySP is 165 cm for male candidates and 157 cm for female candidates.

Once the candidates have applied and the application form filling process for MPSC has been completed, the authorities release the admit card on their official website viz. mahampsc.mahaonline.gov.in.

The candidates need to fill in their credentials like username and password in order to download the admit card. The admit cards for the Preliminary exam and the Mains exam will be different.

The exam is conducted with two subjects which are General Studies and Civil Service Aptitude Test.

The General Studies consists of 100 questions with 200 marks and time allotted as 2 hours

The second subject viz. Civil service Aptitude Test consists of 80 questions with 200 marks and the time for this subject is also 2 hours

  There are two sections in Paper 1, English and Marathi. Both the subjects include topics like essay writing, translation, and precis writing.

  This is based on the grammar portion for the above two languages. Topics like idioms, phrases. Punctuation, synonyms, and antonyms will be asked in this paper.

  This paper includes topics like British rule in India, social and economic awakening, Modern Indian history, National moments in the era of Gandhi, India after independence, Physical Geography, Human and Social Geography of Maharashtra, Remote Sensing, Agroecology

MPSC Exams Selection Process

The selection process for the MPSC exam is done through the three stages given below:

• Prelims Exam
• Mains Exam
• Personal Interview
