The full form of WBTET is West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test which is also known as the WB TET exam. WBTET exam is conducted to recruit teachers for the lower primary classes and upper primary classes in the school under the West Bengal Board of Education under the guidelines of the National Council for Teachers' Education (NCTE).

The qualified candidates can choose to be government-employed teachers as well as in any privately run schools. The lower primary classes include Classes 1 to 5 which the upper primary signify Classes 6 to 8. The West Bengal Board of Education has declared that a B.Ed qualification is mandatory to appear in the WBTET exam.

Eligibility Criteria 2024

Candidates aspiring for WBTET Exam 2024 must check their eligibility criteria before applying. Failing to meet the eligibility criteria as per the requirement by the board can lead to the rejection of the application form at the document verification round. Required Educational Qualifications

The required educational qualifications to appear for WBTET Exam 2024 for Primary Teachers (Class I to V) are provided below.

  • HSC (10+2) with at least 50% Marks AND 2 Years of Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).

OR

  • HSC (10+2) with at least 50% Marks AND 4 Years of Bachelor’s in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

  • HSC (10+2) with at least 50% Marks AND a Diploma in Education (Special Education), recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
  • The candidates bearing any of the above-mentioned educational qualifications are eligible to apply for WBTET Exam for Primary Teachers recruitment.

The required educational qualifications for WBTET Exam for Upper Primary Teachers (Class VI to VIII) are provided below.

  • The candidate must have completed BSc or BA in the relevant discipline and B.Ed or Secondary Education with a minimum of 50% Marks is necessary.

OR

  • 4 Years of Diploma in Educational Course with at least 45% Marks.
Age Limits for WBTET Exam

The Application forms for WBTET Exam are not yet released by the board. Once released, the candidates will be able to complete their application process online through the official site of wbbpe.org.

  • Step 1: First of all, visit the West Bengal Board of Primary Education official site - www.wbbpe.org
  • Step 2: On the homepage, find and click on WBTET 2024 Application Form under the latest notifications section.
  • Step 3: The application form for the WBTET Exam will be available in front of your screen.
  • Step 4: Read all the instructions carefully and enter your basic details.
  • Step 5: After entering the basic information, the candidates will be required to enter their educational qualifications.
  • Step 6: In the next step, the candidate needs to upload all the required documents. Make sure that the documents are visible and not blurred and must follow the prescribed size and format. Unclear and blurry documents can lead to the rejection of the Application.
  • Step 7: After submitting the documents, the last and final stage is to preview the application and make sure that there are no mistakes and errors.
  • Step 8: After reviewing the application form, the candidates can complete their application process by paying the application fees.

It is highly recommended to download and save the copies of application form and fee payment receipt for future use. The candidates must save them in a safe place

Application Fees

The candidates are required to pay online application fees to complete WBTET Application Process. Unpaid and incomplete payment of fees will directly result in the rejection of the application.

The candidates belonging to the Reserved category are provided relaxation in the fees also. WBTET Exam Application fee for different categories is provided in the table below.

Admit Card 2024

The Admit Card for WBTET Exam 2024 will be available on the official website of www.wbbpe.org soon. Admit card is one of the most important documents that is required during the WBTET Exam.

The candidates must download and carry the admit card during the TET Exam. No candidates shall be allowed to sit in the examination hall without an admit card and a valid photo id proof.

How to Download WBTET Admit Card?

The candidates will be able to download their Admit Cards from the official website using their registration id and password. The candidates can follow the below-mentioned steps to download their admit cards.

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of WBTET - www.wbbpe.org.
  • Step 2: The direct link to the Admit Card will be active on the homepage of the website, find and click on that link.
  • Step 3: Now, on the next page, enter your login credentials and hit the submit button.
  • Step 4: Your WBTET Admit Card will be displayed on the screen, check all the details and download it for the exam.

Exam Pattern-

It is very important to check the WBTET Exam Pattern to plan a better preparation strategy. The West Bengal Board of Primary Education conducts WBTET Exam in offline mode. A total of 150 Multiple Choice Questions are asked in the exam and the candidates have to complete the exam in 90 minutes.

The written exam consists of two papers, one for each of the posts. Paper-I for Class I to V while Paper-II for Class VI to VIII.

WBTET Paper-I Exam Pattern

The Paper-I of the WBTET Exam is conducted for the recruitment of primary teachers. This paper tests the basic knowledge of the candidates along with their teaching aptitude. The subject-wise distribution of the marks for WBTET Paper-I is provided in the table below.

The Paper-I of the WBTET Exam (Primary Teachers) contains 30 questions from each of the subjects. The candidates can choose the language of the language-I section of the WBTET Exam from the following languages:

However, the Language-II section will be compulsory in the English language. Thus, the candidates have to be proficient in the English language to score good marks in WBTET Exam.

Paper-II of the WBTET Exam tests the proficiency of the candidates in their concerned subjects. It checks the eligibility of the candidates for the subject-wise teaching posts in the upper primary section (Class VI to VIII).

Selection Process

  • Step 1: Fill WB TET Application Form
    Candidates need to fill WB TET application form on the official website of the teacher eligibility test. After duly filling the application form WB TET exam, aspirants need to save the confirmation page.
  • Step 2: Download WBTET Admit Card
    Candidates need to download their WB TET admit card from the official website of WBBPE. WB TET admit card contains the aspirant’s name, photograph, signature, roll number, and test center details. Candidates need to take a printout of the admit card and carry it to the exam center on the day of the examination.
  • Step 3: Appear for WB TET Exam
    On the exam day, aspirants need to reach their test center well in advance. WB TET exam comprises 150 multiple choice objective type questions which aspirants need to attempt in the allotted time duration of 2 hours 30 minutes.
  • Step 4: WB TET Result
    Candidates can view their results for the WB TET exam on the official website of the test. To check their WBTET result, aspirants need to fill in their roll number and date of birth on the exam’s official website.

The board will release the list of the candidates appointed for the posts of primary teachers based on their marks obtained in the WBTET Exam, Academic Qualification, Experience, and Personality Test.

The final merit list is prepared based on the marks scored in different criteria as follows:

Results:

The results of the TET exam will be declared soon on the official website after the conduction of the online exam. The board will release the exam results soon after the declaration of the final answer keys. Results are generally declared on the official website of the education board.

The candidates can check their WBTET Results and Marks using their roll number on the official website. The steps to check the results are provided below.

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of WBTET - www.wbbpe.org
  • Step 2: On the official homepage, a highlighted link for the exam result will be available.
  • Step 3: Click on the MY TET-2024 Result link.
  • Step 4: You’ll be redirected to the exam result page where you have to enter your login credentials.
  • Step 5: Enter your Roll Number / USER ID and enter your date of birth and click the submit button.
  • Step 6: Your WBTET 2024 result will be available on your screen, save and download the result.

The result will contain all details about the candidates such as name, roll number, date of birth, category, etc. The candidates must check all the details printed on the result.

Estimated Cut-Off

The Cutoff marks are the minimum marks that are required to clear the examination. All the candidates who score marks equal to or more than the cutoff marks will be selected for the Teaching Posts by the West Bengal Primary Education Department.

WBTET Cutoff marks are decided as per the NCTE’s guidelines.

As per the board’s guidelines, the candidates belonging to the Unreserved category must score at least 60% marks in WBTET Exam to be eligible for further rounds of selection.

Also, relaxations are provided to the candidates belonging to the backward and reserved categories. The category-wise minimum qualifying marks for WBTET Exam are provided in the table below.
