Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is owned by the Government of Punjab. PSPCL was earlier known as Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB). PSPCL handles the production and distribution of electricity in the state.

PSPCL exam notification 2021 has been released for 2632 Technical and Non-Technical posts. These include the post of Assistant Lineman, Clerk, Revenue Accountant, Junior Engineer (Electrical), Assistant Sub-Station Attendant.

PSPCL Exam Pattern

The PSPCL exam has the following 3 phases

  • Phase 1 is the preliminary examination
  • Phase 2 is the Mains examination
  • Phase 3 is Document verification

The first two phases i.e the phase 1 and phase 2 have a total of 100 marks. The total number of questions is 100 and every question carries 1 mark. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.

PSPCL exam pattern for the post of JE / Electrical, ALM and ASSA

The exam for the position of Assistant Lineman and Assistant sub-station attendant will be conducted in the first phase itself. The computer-based online exam for the post of Junior Engineer is conducted in 2 phases.

Online examination for the post of Clerk will be conducted in two phases. Both Phase-I and Phase-II will have similar question patterns. They are as follows:

The Online exam for the post of Revenue Accountant has just one phase only. The question pattern is as follows:

PSPCL Syllabus

The PSPCL syllabus for almost all of the recruitment exams is the same and it includes General English, General Knowledge, and Logical reasoning/ Quantitative Aptitude. The rest of the sections might differ from one job to another, as they will be based on the particular subject that they have opted for.

PSPCL Syllabus for the Post of Clerk

The post of a clerk is a non-technical post. The syllabus for this post is divided into 4 sections namely Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, and General Awareness.

The syllabus for reasoning ability includes Coding, Series, Analogy, Blood Relation, Distance, Sitting Puzzle, Direction Test.

The syllabus for Quantitative Aptitude includes Simplification, Profit & Loss, HCF, Simple Interest & Compound Interest & Surds &, Indices, Ratio, Time, Train, Distance (Most Imp.), Number Systems.

The syllabus for the English Language includes Synonyms & Antonyms, Translation, Fillers, Modal Fillers, Change the Tense, Choose Correct Determiner, Narration, Misspelt, Active-Passive, Idioms, One-word Substitution, Mark Correct Sentence.

PSPCL Syllabus for the Post of Junior Engineer/ Electrical

The post for Junior Engineer is a technical post. For the post of Junior Engineer, there is a segment of questions that is relative to the electrical engineering background. Apart from this, the other sections in this exam are General Intelligence, English Language, and General Awareness. Following is the syllabus for the particular subject.

PSPCL Application Form

The PSPCL application form is released on the official website of PSPCL and had to be filled and submitted through online mode. The notifications for various vacancy posts are, posted on the official website of PSPCL and the interested students can apply for the vacancy that they are looking for.

Required Documents for PSPCL Application Form

Candidates who want to apply for PSPCL through online application mode must have a valid and active e-mail ID and phone number. Any further communication about the application will be made through these only.

The documents that are required while applying online are:

  • Digital copy of your photograph with prescribed size
  • Digital copy of your signature
  • Digital copies of other relevant certificates and documents

PSPCL Admit Card

After the registration and application process has been completed, they release official call letters for the exam with a scheduled date and time. Candidates who have applied for the specific exam can then download the admit cards from the official website of PSPCL.

The soft copy of the admit card should be downloaded and printed out to produce during the examination. Candidates can download the admit cards by entering the login credentials on the admit card download link of PSPCL.

PSPCL Eligibility

Following is the post-wise eligibility criteria

Technical: Junior Engineer/ Electrical
  • Regular 3 or 4 years Diploma in Electrical/ Electrical and Electronics/ Computer Science/ IT Engineering with minimum 60% marks

OR

  • Regular BE/ B.Tech in Electrical/ Electrical and ElectronicsEngineering or B.Sc Computer Science
  • IT Engineering with at least 50 % of aggregate marks.

OR

  • AMIE in Electrical/Electrical and Electronics/ Computer Science/IT Engineering with 50% minimum marks from Institution of Engineers(India) Calcutta.
Technical: Assistant Lineman
  • Matriculation (class 10th|) or equivalent.
  • National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in Lineman Trade.
Technical: Assistant Sub-Station Attendant
  • The candidates should have done a full-time course in ITI/Electrical/Electrician/Wireman with a minimum of 60% marks with 2 years apprenticeship experience in PSEB

OR

  • Full time regular diploma in Electrical Engineering/ Electronics & Communication/ Instrumentation & Process Control with 60% marks.
Non-Technical: Clerk
  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University or Institution.
  • Possess at least 120 hours course related to use of Personal Computer,

OR Computer Information Technology course equivalent to DOEACC ‘O’ level certificate by Govt. of India.

  • Must have studied Punjabi up to matric (10th) standard.
  • The candidate will have to pass the English and Punjabi typing test as per PSPCL standards within the probation period.
Non-Technical: Revenue Accountant
  • Regular B.Com with minimum 60% Marks

OR

  • M.Com with a minimum of 50%

  • CA Inter/ ICWAI Inter
PSPCL Age Criteria

The crucial date for assessing the age of candidates is January 1, 2021. Minimum age limit 18 years and upper age limit 37 years.

PSPCL also relaxes age criteria for applicants belonging to certain categories of candidates. The age relaxation is as per the instructions of the Government of Punjab.

A. Yes, there is negative marking for incorrect options in PSPCL exams. 1/4th of the marks allotted for the question will be deducted for wrong answers. As the CBT exam questions are 1 mark questions, the marks deducted for incorrect answers will be 0.25.
