Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test (JKSET) is a state-level examination conducted by the University of Kashmir. It is conducted once every year to recruit suitable candidates for the designation of Lecturers and Assistant Professors. This examination is conducted for a total of 37 diverse subjects.

Eligibility Criteria
The basic criteria that candidates need to fulfill in order to meet JK SET eligibility 2024 are:
- The candidate must have accomplished the UGC examination from a recognized University.
- The candidate belonging to General Category must possess a Master’s degree with a minimum aggregate of 55 percentile marks while for a candidate of Reserved Category, a relaxation of 5% is given.
- Candidates who have previously cleared either of the SLET/NET/CSIR JRF/ UGC exams need not appear for the JKSET 2024.
- This exam is not limited to the Jammu and Kashmir residents only. Candidates from any scope of the country can apply.
- There is no upper age limit placed for this examination.
- Candidates should apply for that particular subject that they pursued during their Post-Graduation.
- Candidates in the final year of their Master’s degree are also eligible to apply.
Application Process
The candidates filling the JKSET form should keep in mind, the following points:
- The candidates must visit the site of the University of Kashmir for regular updates about important notices.
- While filling the JKSET application form, candidates are required to have an email address and a mobile number. Personal and professional details should be accurate.
- They should have scanned images of their signature and a passport-sized photograph as they would be required to upload them while filling out the application form.
- While opting for the subject in the application form, candidates should opt for that particular subject that they are pursuing a Master’s Degree in and choose the exam center best suited for their convenience.
- Failure in the submission of application fees would result in the rejection of the application.
- The images to be uploaded should be of either JPG/JPEG/PNG format with a maximum size of 500kb.

Exam Pattern
- English is the medium of language in which an exam is conducted.
- JK SET comprises three papers namely- Paper I, Paper-II, and Paper III.
- All the questions in the exam are multiple-choice-based questions.
- The questions in each paper carry 2 marks.

- Paper I consists of 60 questions out of which 50 are to be attempted.

Selection Process
The selection of ideal candidates through JKSET involves the following steps:
- JK SET application form: The candidates are primarily required to fill the application form of JKSET available on the University’s official website.
- JK SET Admit Card: The candidates successfully filling the application form will be assigned an admit card which can be downloaded from the official site.
- JK SET Exam: Candidates are required to appear for the JKSET examination at their allotted exam center. The SET consists of three papers, all of which are mandatory to be successfully cleared to be eligible for the desired designation.
- JK SET Result: The results of the JKSET annual exam are declared on the official website of the exam. Candidates who accomplish all three Papers are officially eligible for applying for the designation of Assistant Professor in colleges and universities of Jammu & Kashmir.
