The Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR) is based in New Delhi, India. It is the topmost authority in the field of biomedical research. ICMR is a very renowned organization and one of the oldest medical research bodies all over the world. The main purpose of the ICMR is the formulation, coordination, and promotion of biomedical research. It is funded by the Government of India through the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health, and Family Welfare.
What does the ICMR do?
- Setting up advanced research facilities in different Medical colleges, universities, and other non-ICMR institutes.
- Studies related to new research, a time-bound task force that works on specific tasks in a given time period with uniform methodologies.
- Open-ended research recommendations from the scientists of other non-ICMR Research institutes, Medical colleges, etc.

- Candidates should visit the official website of the ICMR where they can fill the online application form.

- Before you fill the application form, go through the eligibility criteria thoroughly to check if you fit their eligibility criteria.
- Provide the required details with correct information. In case of providing wrong information, the candidate shall be disqualified.
- Separate applications should be submitted with the required application fee.
- After paying the application fees, you have to click the submit button and then take a print out of the application form for future reference.

- Scientist D (Medical): MD/ MS/ DNB or equivalent degree in relevant specializations with 5 years R&D/ Teaching / Working Experience in a Govt. / Public Sector / Private Institutions.
- MBBS degree with Ph.D. in the relevant specialization which is mentioned below and 4 years R&D/ Teaching / Working Experience in a Govt. / Public Sector / Private Institutions.

ICMR FAQ's
1. Does the ICMR prefer recruiting the locals or candidates who are not natives or live outside the state can also apply for the posts?
Answer:Yes, the ICMR may prefer locals sometimes as there is urgency and workload in the institutions but others can also apply for the posts.
2. Is there any written exam conducted for the posts of directors and head of the divisions?
Answer: No, the candidates will be selected as per age, educational qualifications and called for an interview. However, if the number of candidates is more, a written test will be conducted for some posts like Scientist B and research assistants, midwives, etc.
3. Is there any process of document verification after the interview?
Answer: Yes, candidates need to send their documents for document verification.
