Notification

The HPBOSE released the HP TET notification 2026 on March 2026. The HP TET 2026 exam for JBT, TGT (Arts), TGT (Non-Medical), TGT (Medical), Language Teacher, Shastri, Punjabi and Urdu subjects will be held on June 07, 13, 14 17, 21 2026.

Important Exam Dates

HP TET exam dates 2026 have been announced for the June and November session. The HP TET November 2026 exam process will be Expected in September 2026 with the release of notification.

Vacancies

Currently, the position of Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) in Arts/ Non-Medical/ Medical/ Shastri/ L.T/ JBT/ Punjabi/ Urdu Subjects has been vacant in various schools in Himachal Pradesh. So, the HPBSE had decided to examine the above position. And also the examinations were finished in July. So, candidates should wait for further notification. Once the vacancies are available HPBOSE will call for the examination process.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Generally, Aspirants who want to clear the TGT Arts examination need to have passed class 12th examination with a minimum of 45% and a degree in B.A or B.Com with 50%.
• Then, for the TGT (Non-Medical) examination aspirants need to have passed the 12th examination with a minimum of 50% and a degree in BSC and B.Ed or Bachelor degree (50%) in elementary education.
• Consequently for the Shastri Examination candidates need a degree in Shastri with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized university by the Himachal Pradesh Government.
• Then for the TGT Medical Examination aspirants should have passed the 12th exam with a minimum of 50% and a degree in B.Sc.(medical) or B.Ed. Or Bachelor’s degree with 50% in elementary education.
• In order to become a language teacher, Candidates should have a degree in Hindi or currently appear in the final year of a 2-year diploma course.
• Then if you want to become a junior Basic Training you should pass 12th with a minimum of 50% and a degree in the diploma (2 years) or Bachelor degree with 50% in elementary education.
• Consequently for Punjabi Language Teacher Candidates should have a degree in Punjabi or currently appear in the final year of 2 years diploma courses.
• Finally, for the Urdu Language Teacher candidates must need a degree in Urdu or presently doing the final year of their diploma course for 2 years.

Age Limit

There is no upper HPTET Examination however the lower age limit is a minimum of 18 years. Hence, candidates who are 18 years old with the above educational qualifications can apply for the HPTET examination without any age limit. So, candidates need not worry about their upper age when applying for the HPTET examination.

Nationality

Generally, HPTET candidates should be a citizen of India and also the aspirants who belong to Himachal Pradesh must submit their domicile certificate.

Application Process

• The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has begun the application process for Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026. Interested candidates can apply for the HP TET Nov 2026 through the official website of HP TET at http://hpbose.org/
• The last date to apply is till October 13. Candidates can apply till October 18 with a late fee of ₹300.
• HP TET Nov -2026 application fee: The application fee is ₹800 from General and its Sub-Categories (except PHH). For OBC/ST/SC/PHH Categories have to pay ₹500 as application fee.
• The Admit Cards will be uploaded on the Board website 4 days before the Commencement of the Exams.

Admit card

Generally admit cards will be released one week before the Examination. HPTET 2026 Admit Card was released in July 2026 for the previous examination. It is very important to download the admit card before the examination so that you will be allowed to attend the examination.

• HPTET 2026 Admit Card would be provided only to aspirants who have successfully submitted the application form for HPTET before the deadline.
• Generally, HPTET Admit Card will have Applicant’s Name, Photograph, Test Center, Signature, Roll Number, Address, and Test Schedule.
• Once candidates have downloaded their admit card, they need to check the details printed on the Admit Card are correct.
• In case admit cards for the HPTET examination are not accessible on the website, the applicant should get advice from the Board’s Office with a photocopy of the confirmation page.

Exam Pattern

Generally, HPTET 2026 Exam Pattern varies from one subject to another. Before moving to the subject-wise pattern, aspirants must know the overall exam pattern that remains common for all the subjects. Aspirants with the best understanding of the exam scheme tend to make better preparation strategies and have a strong edge over other candidates. • Firstly, the HPTET examination will be an offline mode and also the candidates must mark their answers in an OMR Sheet.
• Then, the exam must have 150 multiple choice questions with a total time of 150 minutes.
• Generally, each question carries 1 mark and there is no negative marking applicable for the HPTET examination.
• Moreover, the minimum mark required to qualify for the HPTET examination is 90, which means 60%.

Selection Process

HP TET selection process 2026 includes the following stages:

• HP TET application form: Firstly, candidates need to fill the HP TET application form in online mode on the official website.
• HP TET admit card: Once the application process is over, candidates need to download their HP TET admit card/hall ticket from the official website of the exam
• HP TET exam: Next, candidates need to take the HP TET exam in offline mode for their chosen subject

Result

Once the exam is over, HPBOSE declares the HP TET result on its official website. Candidates clearing the written exam are then issued HP TET certificates based on which they can apply for the job of a teacher in the schools of Himachal Pradesh

Salary

Generally, The salary range for HPTET Examination varies from one scale to another. The average salary range of HP TET passed teachers working at the primary level gets about Rs 35,000 to 37,000. Likewise, a teacher working at the upper-primary level receives a salary of Rs 43,000 to 46,000. Also, they will be provided with allowances based on their position.
