HPPSC stands for Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, it is the supreme constitutional body of the state of Himachal Pradesh. This government organization functions under its parent department viz. Union Public Service Commission also known as UPSC. HPPSC is appointed with the important task of conducting various state-level exams in order to recruit the right aspirants for different departmental posts.
HPPSC is headquartered in Shimla. It came into existence on 8 April 1971. Though the organization has a lot of different functions, the major responsibility of HPPSC remains to make recruitments to state civil services according to Article 320 of the Constitution. The full form of HPAS is Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services.

HPPSC Eligibility Criteria
Nationality- The applicant must be a citizen of India.
Educational Qualification- An aspirant must have a bachelor's degree from any university/ Professional Institution recognized by the Government or any equivalent qualification.
Age Criteria- An aspirant must have attained the age of 21 years. And, should not be older than 35 years, as on the 1st January of the year of giving the exam. The maximum age limit for SC, ST, OBC, People with Disabilities, Children and grandchildren of Freedom fighters of Himachal Pradesh are allowed a relaxation of 5 years.
Desirable Qualification- It will be in best interests if the applicant has proper knowledge of customs and dialects of Himachal Pradesh as this will be suitable for appointment in the State.

- On the home page, the candidates will have to click the โApply nowโ option.
- Next, the applicants will receive the โOnline application registrationโ link.
- Now, the candidates have to click on the โnew user sign upโ option.
- After that, they have to provide the detailed information asked on the page and then have to click on the โcreate userโ tab.
- In the next step, the aspirants have to press โclick here to apply.
- Again, the candidates have to provide the details like address, educational qualification, and other basic details, etc.
- Once you complete the previous steps, you have to upload the scanned image of the signature and photograph.

The HPAS Combined Competitive examination is conducted in the three stages, namely Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and finally the personal interview round.

Personality Test - Interview Round
There is as such no specific syllabus for this stage as it is an overall personality assessment. During the interview test, the questions asked by the interviewers may range from current affairs of national and international level, and the socio-economic and political knowledge about the prevailing conditions in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The aspiring applicants must have the proper knowledge of the regional customs, culture, and dialect of Himachal Pradesh. Also, the individuals will be judged upon the soft powers like leadership qualities, communication skills, mental agility, and critical understanding.

The candidates have to write a 900 word essay on any two topics out of the given choices in the question paper. The paper is designed to check the ability of the candidates to express their views coherently and produce a well-argued piece. The HPPSC admit card 2026 is going to released to the official website. To download the admit card, the applicants have to provide their User ID and password. Kindly note down that both the admit card of Prelims and the Mains examination are released separately.
