AFCAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

  • Flying Branch (AFCAT & NCC Entry): 20 – 24 years as of July 1, 2024.
  • Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical): 20 – 26 years as of July 1, 2024.
  • The DOB accepted by the IAF is that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or a certificate recognized by an Indian University.

Marital Status

  • Candidates must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course.
  • Widows/ Widowers and divorcees below 25 years are also not eligible.

Educational Qualification

  • Graduation with a minimum of 3 years degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks is required.
  • For Flying Branch, a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level is a must.

Age Relaxation: -

  • 03 years for the candidates belonging to OBC Category.
  • 05 years for the candidates belonging to SC/ST Category.
  • 10 years for the candidates belonging to PwBD Category. (Additional 05 years in case of PwBD Candidates belonging to SC, ST & 03 years for OBC category)
  • Ex-servicemen: Ex-servicemen who have rendered not less than 06 months of continuous service in the Armed Forces shall be allowed to deduct the full period of such service from their actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed the prescribed maximum age by more than three years, they shall be deemed to be within age limits.
  • SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against UNRESERVED post are not entitled to any relaxation in age limit, experience, etc.

Application

Registration
  • Go to the official career website of the Indian Air force.
  • Click on the Candidates login section.
  • A new web page will appear. Fill in the registration details asked for new users like the name; e-mail ID, mobile number, etc.
  • Click on submit. A new AFCAT registration ID and password would be sent to the registered Email address.

Note: It is to be noted that the candidate should keep their registered email id and phone number active, throughout the selection process.

Apply Online
  • Fill in the details as per the directions are given on the webpage.
  • Select the preference of branch, AFCAT Exam Center, Subject for EKT exam, etc.
  • Upload Your signature and Photograph (as per dimensions provided in the notification).
  • Click on submit.
Payment of AFCAT Application Fee
  • After filling the online form, the exam fee of INR 250 has to be made through the ‘Make Payment’ step in the main menu.
  • This fee is non-refundable.
  • The examination fee can be paid using credit/ debit cards/ net banking through the payment gateway.

AFCAT Admit Card 2024

AFCAT 2024 admit card is expected to be released soon.

The AFCAT 2 2024 written exam has been scheduled for August 28-30, 2024. After downloading the admit card, the candidates must check the details mentioned on the admit card. In case of any discrepancy, the candidates must contact the authorities as to the soonest. Here is the process to download the admit card:

  • Visit the AFCAT official website and click on the 'Candidate's Login'
  • On the screen, the login page will appear, and enter your credentials to log in.
  • The AFCAT admit card will appear on the screen.
  • Download it and take a few prints for exam use.

Exam Centre

  • For this session, there are 104 locations for AFCAT 2024.
  • Candidates must choose their preferred AFCAT exam centre at the time of registration according to their preferences.
  • Make note that no request for any change of centre will be entertained by the authorities.

Exam pattern

  • There will be a total of 100 MCQs will be asked.
  • There are four sections - Numerical Ability, General Awareness and Reasoning, Verbal Ability, and Military Aptitude.
  • The candidates will be rewarded three marks for each correct answer.
  • There will be a negative marking of one mark for each incorrect attempt.

Selection Process

The AFCAT selection process 2024 consists of 2 stages such as AFCAT written test, and the Personality test.

Stage 1: AFCAT Written Test

  • The intellectual test consists of objective-type questions conducted in 104 locations.
  • The intellectual test consists of objective-type questions conducted in 104 locations.
  • IAF will prepare a list of candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the Online AFCAT as fixed by the IAF at their discretion.

  • Candidates who are declared successful in the Online AFCAT will be called at one of the Air Force Selection Boards.

  • Candidates who have applied for NCC Special Entry and Meteorology Branch will be directly called for AFSB testing at one of the AFSB centres.

Stage 2: AFSB interview

  • In this stage, candidates must be mentally as well as physically fit as per the specified standards of authorities. The interview continues for 5 days.
  • AFSB centres are at Dehradun (1 AFSB), Mysuru (2 AFSB), Gandhinagar (3 AFSB), and Varanasi (4 AFSB).
  • Candidates who opt for the flying branch can only opt for Dehradun, Mysore, and Varanasi.
  • Candidates are required to choose the AFSB date and venue by themselves on the official website of AFCAT. or https://afcat.cdac.in to generate call-up letters for an AFSB interview.

AFCAT Final Selection

  • Candidates should secure the minimum qualifying marks separately in the written examination and AFSB test as fixed by the IAF.
  • The qualifiers’ names will be placed in the order of merit based on the total marks secured by them in the written examination and the AFSB tests.
  • The form and manner of communication of the result of the examination to individual candidates will be decided by the IAF at their discretion.
  • 10% of the vacancies are reserved for NCC Air Wing Senior Division 'C' certificate holders in Ground Duty (Technical and Non-technical) Branches.
  • Allotment of PC/ SSC in Ground Duty (Technical and Non-technical) Branches would be based on several vacancies, performance in the selection process, and the choice given by the candidates.

Results

  • As the written exam has been scheduled for August 28-30, the AFCAT 2 result is expected to be issued in the months of September-August in online mode.
  • The appeared candidates will be able to download by entering Email ID, Password, and Captcha code in pdf format.
  • Along with the AFCAT result, the conducting body will release a scorecard for the qualified candidates.
  • The qualified candidates will be shortlisted for the AFSB interview round.

Cutoff

AFCAT Cutoff 2024 will be declared along with the AFCAT result. The AFCAT Cutoff 2024 will be released in 2 stages: cutoff for the written test & the final cutoff marks.

The final cutoff marks will be released in November 2024.

Salary

During the training period, both men and women will receive a stipend of INR 56,100 per month.

After the successful training period, an IAF officer will receive a salary of INR. 56,100 - INR. 1,10,700 after the 7th pay commission.

Along with the AFCAT salary, the IAF officers will be entitled to various allowances. The allowances will be based on the region of posting and the nature of the role and responsibilities.

It includes Test Pilot & Flight Test Engineer, Field Area Allowance, Special Force, Siachen, Special Compensatory (Hill area), Island Special Duty, Area, and Remote Locality Allowance.
