Rajesh Ambati has been promoted to vice-president of engineering at Apple. His career spans more than two decades in the technology industry. He has worked at Motorola and Apple, holding several engineering and leadership roles.
Ambati holds a master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. He has also pursued additional studies in technology and management. These include courses in Statistics for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Science at Stanford Continuing Studies, and Management Strategy at Rutgers Business School.
He began his professional career at Motorola in January 2003. He worked there as an engineering manager until November 2009. He joined Apple in October 2009 as a senior software engineering manager.

Ambati moved up the ranks at Apple over the years. In October 2014, he became director of software engineering. In October 2019, he was promoted to senior director of software engineering.
As senior director, according to his LinkedIn profile, he worked across areas such as cellular connectivity, wireless technology and satellite communications. His responsibilities included software development, testing, verification and product reliability. His work covered Apple's devices, including the iPhone and iPad.
His latest promotion to vice-president of engineering marks another step in his career at Apple. He spent nearly 18 years at the company before reaching the position.
Ambati's education includes formal engineering training and additional studies in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science and management. His career has taken him from an engineering management role at Motorola to a senior leadership position at one of the world's major technology companies.
