The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked all affiliated schools to thoroughly verify student details before submitting registration data and the List of Candidates (LOC) for the 2027 board examinations, citing repeated errors and delays in previous examination cycles.
In a circular dated September 10, the board said the registration process for Classes 9 and 12 and submission of the LOC for Classes 10 and 12 would begin shortly. It urged schools to ensure that all student and subject-related information is correctly submitted within the prescribed timelines.
The CBSE said schools must particularly verify the full name of the candidate as recorded in the admission register, date of birth, gender, category and full names of parents or guardians, including correct spellings.
Schools have also been asked to complete subject-wise registration according to the students' scheme of studies and submit photographs and signatures of candidates in the specified format.
The board cautioned that errors in the submitted information could lead to complications later in the examination process.
According to the circular, the board has faced several avoidable delays and operational difficulties during recent examinations because of incorrect information submitted by schools.
These included incorrect subject codes or subjects, for which schools later sought corrections after submitting the data. The board also flagged incorrect student or parent details, non-submission of the LOC and failure to submit the LOC within the prescribed timeline.
The CBSE said schools had been reminded several times to ensure that personal information and subjects offered by students were submitted correctly. However, errors continued to occur in the data.
The board said such issues affected its ability to maintain examination timelines and ensure efficiency in the conduct of examinations. They also resulted in undue problems for candidates.
Against this backdrop, the CBSE has once again asked schools to keep all correct student details ready before submitting the LOC.
The circular was issued by Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations, CBSE. It has also been circulated to heads of various school education organisations and institutions, including Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Eklavya Model Residential Schools, Sainik Schools Society and other education authorities for dissemination among schools under their jurisdiction.
The board has not specified the exact opening date for registration and LOC submission in this circular, saying only that the processes would start shortly.
