The scores of misconceptions about Bitcoin over the past years have misdirected people and businesses alike in their quest for stable investment. In order to address this issue, Bitcoin Association, a Switzerland-based organization that advances the enterprise adoption of the Bitcoin SV (BSV) blockchain, is ramping up its education initiatives that serve to correct misinformation about Bitcoin and blockchain technology.
“Education is a cornerstone of the work we do at Bitcoin Association, as we help businesses and individuals alike understand the Bitcoin system envisioned by Satoshi Nakamoto, and how Bitcoin SV is the only project implementing that Satoshi Vision. Bitcoin SV Academy will be a key component of that work moving forward, providing a platform to deliver a robust curriculum tailored to all levels of ability and knowledge, as we educate the world about just what’s possible with the power of the original Bitcoin protocol,” Bitcoin Association Founding President Jimmy Nguyen said about the launch of the Academy.
According to the Association’s annual report, the initiative to provide accurate and university-style Bitcoin and blockchain education through Bitcoin SV Academy, which was launched in December of last year, is continuing to grow. The first course offered was Introduction to Bitcoin Theory; and Introduction to Bitcoin Development was the second one made available in early 2021. The third course, Introduction to Bitcoin Infrastructure will soon be rolled out this year. These three courses will also be made available in intermediate and advanced levels. In line with its commitment to communicate the real value of Bitcoin to as many people as possible, all introductory courses are free. In addition, a complimentary eBook about blockchain technology can be downloaded at the site.
“Fundamentally, a good education allows for the maximization of opportunity. By providing this knowledge through our courses, Bitcoin Association can help to accelerate growth and foster greater resilience in the ecosystem, which is good for Bitcoin and ultimately great for the world, particularly in these complex and challenging times,” curriculum specialist Evan Freeman explained.
On top of the BSV Academy, the Association has also collaborated with Saxion University of Applied Sciences and the Saxion Blockchain Institute in the Netherlands to launch the first massive open online course (MOOC) focused on the BSV ecosystem. The first certificate course entitled “What is Bitcoin and why does it matter?” runs from February 5 to September 1 this year. Three more MOOCs will be offered after this, which are part of a progressive curriculum.
“At the Saxion Blockchain Institute, we aim to teach interdisciplinary skills for the advancement of blockchain technology. With the massive open online courses that we are developing, which are focused on Bitcoin’s original protocol and Bitcoin SV, we want to ensure that everyone—be they students, professionals or otherwise—has access to the best blockchain education to help develop the next wave of innovation using Satoshi Nakamoto’s design for Bitcoin. This collaboration is special because this is one of the elemental disruptions in the financial world,” Dr. Jan Veuger, Saxion University’s first-ever Professor of Blockchain, said.
The Satoshi Nakamoto Scholarship is likewise continuing its advocacy to financially support the study and development of applications and platforms on the BSV blockchain. The second scholarship has been awarded to Robin Kohze, a University of Cambridge PhD candidate in human genomics and founder of the Cambridge Metanet Society. Kohze has also established the Vaionex Corporation, an organization that “creates BSV applications that interconnect and offers third-party development service.” With these initiatives in place, it will not be so far into the future when people fully understand what Bitcoin and blockchain technology are all about.
