New Delhi 6th January 2021: Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC) on Wednesday announced the launch of its Electric Mobility Nanodegree Program with DIYguru, the online maker’s learning platform for engineers across India and Southeast Asia.
The program is specially designed for students and professionals of Engineering & Diploma background. The certification will be driven by ASDC's blockchain-powered solution - Certif-ID, the latest technology to protect certificates against counterfeit and fake certificates.
The duration of the course is of six months. The classes will be a mix of online recorded and live lectures to be delivered to students on weekends.
DIYguru launched its E-Mobility program back in 2016 with Vecmocon, based out of IIT Delhi, and has since then served more than 50,000 students and professionals from Hyundai, Bosch, and Maruti Suzuki placing more than 80% of its students in the rising EV market.
It has recently been accredited as the official partner of ISRO in the implementation of Online Courses in Space Remote Sensing Satellite in India.
Mr. Arindam Lahiri, CEO of, ASDC said “As the technology-cost curve is becoming steeper, more technologies are finding their way into the automotive sector at present. Be it hybrid technology, or electric vehicles, the automotive industry is evolving at a rapid pace. The program’s goal is to train Engineering & Diploma students to fill the supply deficit of the skilled automotive workforce. The industry has to cope with rapid digitalization to meet the growing demands of our consumers. It is facing a rising skills shortage,"
The government had initiated the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan in the year 2013 to put 6-7 million electric vehicles on Indian roads by 2020 and committing to achieving 30% e-mobility in the country by 2030.
To achieve this goal India will need to create a skilled and trained workforce that has expertise in design and testing, battery manufacturing and management, sales, services, and infrastructure of electric vehicles. ASDC aims to skill and certify 25 million youth in the next 10 years, equipping professionals with skills in areas like IoT, mechatronics, robotics, 3D printing, AI, machine learning, deep learning, analytics, virtual collaboration, automotive design, and computational thinking, Mr. Lahiri, further added.
ASDC, is the first sector Skill Council of India, promoted by the Automobile industry, through Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) along with the Government of India represented by Department of Heavy Industry, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). ASDC envisions making India self –sufficient in availability of skilled personnel for sustaining growth & increasing competitiveness of the automobile industry. ASDC has over 240 training partners, 800 certified assessors, 14 expert groups with 295 industry experts and over 2000 training centres.
