Hindu Collegeโs staff association has demanded the removal of the college principal and the chairman of its governing body, calling for an independent enquiry into alleged irregularities and immediate intervention by Delhi University (DU).
In a press note issued on Wednesday, the Hindu College Staff Association (HCSA) said its dharna against the administration had continued for more than two weeks. The association said it had also passed a no-confidence resolution against the principal, citing concerns over the collegeโs functioning and governance.
The HCSA alleged deviations from university admission rules, delays in faculty leave and promotion matters, and the bypassing of the statutory Staff Council. It also flagged alleged irregularities in financial and procurement processes, construction, appointments and tenure.
The association raised questions over the commercial use of college resources, non-disclosure of governing body minutes and audited accounts, and the handling of fees and scholarships. It further pointed to repeated fire incidents and structural issues, calling for a detailed, independent enquiry into these matters.
The association also sought the implementation of observations made by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). It demanded disclosure of governing body minutes, audited accounts, tenders and contracts, alongside restoration of the Staff Councilโs statutory authority.
The HCSA called for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of show-cause notices issued to its president and secretary, as well as a senior faculty member. It said the notices followed concerns raised about what it described as the principalโs alleged wrongdoing.
The association further alleged that some faculty members, particularly those from Dalit and other vulnerable sections, had been selectively targeted. It included these claims in its wider demand for accountability and an inquiry into the administrationโs actions.
The HCSA also demanded the governing body chairmanโs removal and called for Hindu College to be temporarily taken over by Delhi University. It wants an extended governing body to be constituted to protect the institution against any move towards privatisation.
The association alleged that college buildings were being taken over and renamed after corporate donors, including the Chimes Group, Relaxo and Ultra International, in violation of university rules.
The HCSA said it had submitted memorandums to the universityโs vice-chancellor and the governing body but had received no effective response.
Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha and Lok Sabha member Sudhakar Singh had addressed protesting students and teachers in solidarity, the association said.
