About Alluri Sitaram Raju Academy of Medical Sciences (ASRAM)
Alluri Sitaram Raju Academy of Medical Sciences, Eluru was named after the famous patriot Alluri Sitaramaraju. The Chairman of the institute is Sri Gokaraju Gangaraju, a famous industrialist of Andhra Pradesh. Sri G Ramaraju is the present Director of the Institute. The Medical College and the attached Teaching Hospital were established in the year 1999.
ASRAM offers undergraduate degree (MBBS) and degree and diplomas for post graduation in various branches. Post Graduate diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology is also offered by the Institute.The MCI has permitted for increase in annual intake of MBBS students to 150 from the Academic year 2009-10.Accordingly, now 150 MBBS students are admitted every year.
Campus :-
The College and Hospital are located in a vast area of about 100 acres. The campus is located adjacent to National Highway no.5. It is 3 kms from Eluru Railway station and 35 kms from Gannavaram(Vijayawada) airport. More than 100 cameras are installed in the campus and they are connected to central CCTVs to monitor all the areas of the Medical college and Hospital. A number of security personnel were employed to offer round the clock security in the campus.
Facilities
Library :
A Modern air conditioned library is available. It has more than 12,000 books and about 50,000 numbers of journals. The College subscribes to 70 Indian Journals and 38 Foreign Journals. Besides the College is having access to 600 online journals. The library is having tie up with Dr NTR University of Health Sciences for online Digital Library services.
Auditorium :
The Medical College is having a very good air conditioned auditorium with a capacity of 1000.
Sports facilities :
The campus is having a number of Play Grounds. A tennis court, Basket ball court, Cricket stadium, Foot ball court are available in the campus. Indoor games and indoor gyms are also present. A modern swimming pool is also under construction.
Open air theatre :
is located in a vast area. Educational and recreational films are regularly being screened.It has a capacity for 1000 audience.
Hostels : The Male students and female students are having separate Hostels with attached kitchens and Dining Halls. There is a separate Air conditioned Hostel to accommodate NRI students. All the Hostels are having 24 hours water supply and Electricity. The food prepared in the kitchens is wholesome and tasty. A wide range of cuisine is available.
Cafeteria :
A modern 24 hours cafeteria is available in the campus near the Hospital building. A wide variety of snacks and refreshments are available in the canteen.
Generators :
The Campus is having generators with a total capacity of 750 KVA to provide uninterrupted power supply to the entire campus.
Campus Security :
More than 100 cameras are installed in the campus and they are connected to central CCTVs to monitor all the areas of the Medical college and Hospital. A number of security personnel were employed to offer round the clock security in the campus.
Bio Medical Department : The College is having a separate Bio Medical Department with qualified Engineers to repair all electronic equipment promptly.
Animal House :
The Department of Pharmacology is maintaining the Animal House. It has got the necessary permission from statutory authorities. Animals like Rabbits, Guinea pigs and mice are maintained in the animal house for experimental purpose.
Staff Quarters :
A number of staff quarters are available in the campus to accommodate the teaching and non teaching staff. All the staff nurses were provided accommodation in the campus and they have to necessarily stay in the campus.
ATM Counter :
The Punjab National Bank is operating an ATM Counter in the premises of the Hospital. Besides, there are facilities for postal and courier services and reservation facilities for train, air and bus travel
