This course takes students on an engaging journey through the world of matter—the building block of everything around us. It begins with an exploration of the three primary states of matter: solids, liquids, and gases, highlighting their distinct properties such as rigidity, fluidity, compressibility, kinetic energy, and density.

A key focus will be on how temperature and pressure influence the physical state of substances. We'll learn practical conversions between Kelvin and Celsius, investigate the different physical states of water at various temperatures, and understand the science behind liquefying atmospheric gases. You'll also gain insight into everyday observations, like why water is a liquid at room temperature, why an iron almirah remains solid, and why ice at 273 K is a more effective coolant than water at the same temperature.

The course also explains everyday phenomena through scientific processes such as melting, vaporization, condensation, sublimation, and evaporation. We'll uncover the scientific reasons behind common experiences, like why boiling water and steam cause different burn severities, and why wet clothes dry slowly on rainy days. You'll also explore the factors affecting evaporation, including the roles of wind speed and surface area, and examine the unique behaviors of substances like dry ice and ammonium chloride when heated.  These and many more questions will be explored in detail.

By the end of the course, learners will develop a scientific understanding of the matter around them, empowering them to connect textbook concepts to daily life experiences.
