Ms.Maya Shahani, Chairperson, Thadomal Shahani Centre for Management, Shahani Group,"Eleanor Roosevelt had said “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” This is what I have always believed in, and this is the kind of confidence we must strive to instil in our girl students. In a patriarchal society like ours, a woman is not taken seriously, and to overcome this we need to boost her self image. Education is an essential means of empowering women with knowledge and skill sets for increased job opportunities. As educators, we need to ensure that our classes are more gender equal and we maximize opportunities for women employability."
Dr. Prachi Gharpure, Director, NMIMS Indore Campus,"Career continuation for women engineers -I think engineering/STEM and other allied fields are no more unorthodox at-least in the Indian context thanks to very active support from the government. But what is still challenging is the mind-set of female students which somewhat holds them back when it comes to taking a front seat in initiatives during their study years. We still see fewer girls as team leaders in student group projects. Post degree the initial years are hectic as woman engineers but still very manageable. The real challenge starts when as an engineer you start climbing the leadership ladder and at that time family responsibilities are also on the ascent. What is seen is it’s at this juncture most of the women engineers opt for a less demanding career and the Industry loses on a very diverse kind of leadership. My suggestion at such time to all the career path women engineers is we don’t have to try to be superwomen. What will help is prioritizing the personal tasks ahead and let someone else complete the low-priority one’s for you.
If I look back at my education and subsequent academic carrier, I realise that it was not so much about a planned strategy but more about what I did with the opportunities when they were offered to me at various junctures. So be positive and agile as you step into the highly competitive professional world”.
Ms. Khyati Bhatt, Joint Director (HR), SVKM’s NMIMS Deemed to be University , "Women are the power and spirit of love. A woman is the epitome of hope, a volcano of love, a mountain of protection, a waterfall of blessings to mankind. She has the power to heal the world, the power to sacrifice, the power of tolerance, the power to destroy. She manifests happiness, kindness, courage, strength, and determination. She buries all her sadness, sorrows, tears and still, she stands up once again to spread her wings, embrace this world with joy. She is bliss to this society, an ultimate 'Woman'.
Dr. Meena Galliara, Director - Centre for Sustainability Management & Social Entrepreneurship, School of Business Management, SVKM’s NMIMS, "The world today is looking forward to having peaceful existence. In this women have a larger role to play. Being endowed with the quality of being sensitive, tolerant, and persuasive she can be inclusive. Her ability to adapt, manage crisis and accommodate diversity both in her personal and professional life is her 'Shakti' - strength. To create a prosperous and peaceful world we need to respect, nurture and empower women in all the strata of the society.
Prof. Manisha Phadke, Director – School of Design, SVKM’s NMIMS,"A successful female leader is often labeled aggressive whilst the male an achiever. There is a concern about her family -work balance instead of work-life balance. It is high time we change the writing on the wall. Respect yourself and respond to your entitlement.
