Candidates should verify their personal details and marks carefully after downloading the result.
The CA Intermediate examination under ICAIโs new scheme of education and training comprises six papers divided into two groups, with three papers in each group. Each paper carries 100 marks, making the total 300 marks per group and 600 marks across both groups.
The examination follows a combination of objective and descriptive questions. The paper pattern is as follows:
Multiple-choice questions (MCQs): 30% of the paper is based on case scenarios or case studies.
Descriptive questions: The remaining 70% consists of descriptive questions.
Total marks: Each paper carries 100 marks.
Number of papers: Six papers across Group I and Group II.
The six papers are Advanced Accounting; Corporate and Other Laws; Taxation; Cost and Management Accounting; Auditing and Ethics; and Financial Management and Strategic Management.
Under the prescribed marking scheme, candidates are required to secure a minimum of 40% marks in each paper and at least 50% marks in the aggregate to pass a group.
The key marking and qualifying criteria are:
Minimum marks per paper: 40 out of 100.
Minimum aggregate: 150 out of 300 in each group.
Negative marking: There is no negative marking for MCQ-based questions.
Group-wise qualification: Candidates must meet both the individual-paper minimum and the aggregate requirement for the relevant group.
Candidates can clear the two groups in separate attempts. Those who appear for both groups together may also qualify by meeting ICAIโs prescribed passing criteria for the combined examination.
Candidates who clear both groups of the CA Intermediate examination can proceed to the subsequent stage of the Chartered Accountancy course, subject to ICAIโs applicable eligibility and training requirements. Candidates who do not qualify should review their subject-wise performance and check the instituteโs official announcements for the next examination cycle.
