About Shivaji College New Delhi,

Shivaji College (SC), a constituent College of the University of Delhi proffers courses such as B.Com, B.Sc. (Hons.), B.Tech and  Biochemistry etc. The institute  is run under the trusteeship of Delhi Administration. It is a co-educational institution and imparts instruction in various subjects at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels.The College was founded in 1961 by the renowned social activist and farmer-leader, Honourable Dr. Panjab Rao Deshmukh, then Union Minister for Agriculture, to meet the needs and ideals of higher education in a predominantly agrarian area. Till some years after its inception, the college functioned from a temporary building in village Matiala. It was taken over by the Delhi Government, and relocated to Karampura, in 1967. The college finally shifted to its present location in 1976. Since its inception in a small structure in rural Delhi with borrowed science laboratories, the College has come a long way in 2015 with a campus spread over an area of 10 acres, used for academi

Facilities

Reading Halls & Computer facility: The Library has two air conditioned reading halls- one for teachers with a seating capacity of 15 users and the other for students with the seating capacity of 60. These rooms are  fully equipped with 04 and 07 computers with internet facilities respectively.

Photocopy: The Library provides photocopy facility to its users within the library premise through a private photocopy vendor. The users are charged 50paise per page by the vendor.

Inter Library Loan: The Library offers Inter Library Loan facility to its users on request. The Library in the past has borrowed and even issued books on inter library loan to nearby college libraries.

Braille Books: The Library has 221 books in Braille Language and Braille kit with CD’s and other devices.

 

Property Counter: The Library offers the facility of property counter to its users. Users are required to deposit their Bags (excluding valuable items such as money, passport, credit/debit cards/mobile phones etc.) with the property counter attendant before entering into the library.

Composition of Placement Cell

 

Every year the Placement Committee has faculty members from various departments who are well versed about the needs of the students and understand the corporate world and career objectives of students.The student coordinators work closely with faculty members and have a very crucial role to play in the placement cell .Apart from collecting data and information about different companies and opportunities available they are the connecting link between the placement cell and eligible students. The names and email ids of all these coordinators are accessible to the final year students who register themselves online for placements.
