About National Law School of India University
National Law School of India University, (NLSIU) Bangalore is the first Indian Law University established by a statute passed by Karnataka Legislature in 1986. It became functional in 1988. It is the only Law School sponsored by the Bar Council of India with a view to raising the standard of legal education in India. Leading lawyers, judges and academicians have been associating with the Law School from the very beginning and in this way, the NLSIU represents the unique partnership among the Bar, the Bench and the Academia.
The National Law School of India University is located in Nagarbhavi, approximately 10 kms from the Bangalore City railway station. The Law School is spread over an 18 acre campus at the entrance to the Jnana Bharati Campus from the Nagarbhavi end.

The college has its own placement cell that looks after arranges for the internships and placements of the students. During the first and second years, the placement is optional and will be with NGOs. During the third year placement with trial lawyers, during the fourth year with appellate lawyers and during the final year with law firms and others is compulsory.
