About Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IITP), Patna
IIT Patna is an autonomous institute for education and research in science, engineering and technology. The institute is located in Patna, India and is one of the 16 IITs in the country. IIT Patna has been established with the sole aim to provide international standard technical education and research and the Nation's need for well trained and proficient technocrats and scientists. This center for advanced studies was officially registered as a society on 25th July 2008, and the academic programs were commenced on 6th August 2008. IIT Guwahati has been assigned to mentor IIT Patna.
IIT Patna offers B.Tech programs in three disciplines - Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering with annual sanction strength of 120 B.tech students. In addition, it also offers Ph.D. programs in Engineering, Science and Humanities & Social Sciences. The current strength of Ph.D students is around 30.
