EIILM University, Sikkim is a private university established under Sikkim State Legislature Act No 4, 2006 Government of Sikkim. The Act received assent of the Governor on March 24, 2006 that was published under the Government of Sikkim, Gazette Notification No. 28/LD/2006 dated April 3, 2006. EIILM stands for Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management. It is supported by EIILM, Kolkatta and managed by a unit of Malvika Foundation (trust), New Delhi. The university was established in 1995 with the name ‘Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management’. It was an institute offering MBA programs under Visva Bharati University. Then it became a ‘Constituent College of Visva Bharati' and by 2006 it received the status of a University. The University provided pioneering higher education in India based on international models to achieve global presence. EIILM University Campuses

The University has 2 Campuses- One is the main and the other one is the admission campus.

1. Jorethang Campus – The admission and administrative campus is located in Jorethang town of District Namchi. The town lies on the way to Pelling from Darjeeling, Siliguri and Kalimpong. The EIILMU campus at Jorethang undertakes various programs which fall under the purview of business administration, social sciences, media, hospitality, tourism, education and research. It also houses DDL program studies at 16th Mile Campus.
2. Malabassey Campus – The main campus of EIILM is located at 8^th Mile, Budang, West Sikkim.  The technical departments of biotechnology, environmental sciences, electronics and communication engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, computer sciences and IT offer graduate and post- graduate programs in this campus. The campus here is of ‘Gurukul Style’. It houses a multi-storied complex with auditorium, conference cum seminar hall, audio visual recording room and other facilities.

EIILM University Distance Education

EIILM distance education is fostered through EIILM University DDE or Directorate of Distance Education. The directorate of distance learning offers programs of masters, bachelors, diploma and PG diploma levels in various disciplines. The most prominent courses are Industry Integrated MBA (Retail / IT / HR / Finance / Supply Chain / IB / Operation Mgmt) and BBA, Executive MBA, 1 Yr. Diploma in Retail Management, Training and Development and Real Estate Management. The courses offered by the university are recognized by Distance Education Council, New Delhi

Prominent Features of EIILM University DDE

• IT facilitated Infrastructure – Despite the university’s location in a hilly backward area, it has a strong information technology infrastructure. The infrastructure facilitates Student-Faculty Interaction like Query Handling, Online Live Chatting, Online Discussion etc. Academic and administrative processes like Admissions, Examinations, Result Declaration, Courseware, Packaging & Dispatching are also computerized. The faculty members are well versed with the operations of the virtual platform & the live online operational model.
• Virtual Classrooms - Virtual class rooms are facilitated through DAMAKA.com and VSAT studio connecting via satellite.
• IntelliEXAMS – IntelliEXAMS is a composite Software package encompassing Admission to Examination processes from MindlogicX.
• Separate Building – Directorate of Distance Learning is housed in a separate building of about 6000 square feet area.
• Study at Par with Regular Programs – Curricular contents, mode of examination and the degrees to be awarded are the same as that of the regular programs of the University.
• SLM – Self Learning Materials (SLMs) are in the Block/Unit format as per the DEC specifications. The university is on its way to publish the same on its website for quick access by the enrolled students.
• Assignments – These are distributed online on website, emailed, posted through regular mail and/or via Courier.
• DDL Library – The DDL has an independent library and four reading rooms for the students. Library collection includes 40,000 books along with journals of national and international repute. It is connected with British Council and American library. The library is also a member of DELNET, Govt. of India.
• PCP - Personal Contact Programmes are conducted every year with the help of Guidance Lectures and Practical Classes.
• Counselling – It is available to the students at any time during office hours at Head Quarter provided by the core faculty.

Admission to EIILMU DDU

Admissions are accepted twice in a year for January and July Batch.

• Interested candidate may apply on the printed form attached with the prospectus

         or

• the prospectus can be download from the university website

         or

• the prospectus can be collected from approved Admission, Academic & Placement Support Centres of the University by paying Rs. 300/- in cash or via Demand Draft in favour of “Directorate of Distance Learning, EIILM University”, payable at Delhi.

• Duly filled downloaded forms will be accepted with Rs.300/- in cash or via demand draft along with the first instalment fee.
• Admission will be granted to individual candidates against applications submitted through the respective approved Admission, Academic & Placement Support Centres of the University on the prescribed original application form filled up and completed in all respects  by the candidate his/her own handwriting.  
• Fill up the form legibly and without overwriting. Use only black / blue pen write in capital letters only. No columns should be left blank.
• The candidates should ensure, before submitting the application for admission that the course is offered by   EIILM   University (in the latest prospectus-also available on Website); and that they fulfil the eligibility criteria laid down in the prospectus for the said course.
• Only duly completed forms along with requisite fees are accepted by the University
• Required eligibility documents duly attested are to be attached. No forms will be accepted without eligibility documents.
• In case the proof of eligibility (i.e. attested copies of final year mark sheets / graduation degree certificate) is not furnished with the admission form, provisional admission will be granted at the University’s discretion, which will be confirmed upon submission of the same.

Maximum   Duration for completion of Courses:

Lateral Entry

• Lateral entry is allowed only in the programs where the same is specifically mentioned.
• Candidates who are pursuing programs from other Universities can continue their remaining part of the program from the centres of EIILM University for the next years / semesters as per University rules.
  The period of study in the EIILM University shall not be less than 50% of the total duration of the course.
• Candidates otherwise eligible for the course and interested to take transfer from other University under this provision have to fill up the regular Application Form and also include transfer fee of Rs.1000/- and other fees mentioned in the prospectus while preparing the DD.
• The Candidates will also have to clear remedial examination, if any of the papers which are not equivalent to the course of EIILM University.  
• The Candidate has to pay Rs.300/- per unmatched paper along with Credit Transfer Fee / Lateral Entry Fee of  Rs.2000/- Course Fee, other than the Enrolment Fee and Examination Fee (fees is subject to change).
• For appearing in unmatched papers the candidate must fill in and submit the separate Reappearing / Due Paper Form available on the EIILM University website.
• For Registration and Examination purposes, for the entire course, migration certificates will not be required.
  However, for lateral entry or credit transfer facility, migration certificate issued by the competent authority of University/Board and a certificate issued by the Head of the Institute, so attended by the candidate is essential.

ELLMU DDE Examinations

• Examinations are conducted twice in a year.
• The Medium of Examination will be English only.
• The Examination fee as prescribed is to be paid along with the Admission / Registration /Re-registration Form.
• Each candidate shall be examined according to the scheme of examination and syllabus as approved and provided by EIILM University. 
  EIILM University reserves the right to change the course/curriculum whenever deemed suitable and/or necessary.
• The Examination will be held only at the university approved Admission, Academic & Placement Support Centres.
• The Examination Schedule will be displayed on EIILM University website and also at the approved Admission, Academic & Placement Support Centres before the commencement of Examination.        
  The Examination Schedule and Admit Card will be dispatched directly to the students / approved Admission,  Academic & Placement Support Centres. 
• If a candidate does not receive any information in reference to the above he/she should immediately contact the DDL office / Admission & Counselling Centres from where he applied.
• In some cases candidate/s are given provisional roll numbers as the eligibility documents are either not submitted or are under verification. However, it is not a confirmation of his/her admission, and the admission can be cancelled in case any deficiency is found at any stage.

Important Notes

• In the event of any clarification needed at any specific time, the decision of the Vice Chancellor will be final and binding.
• The candidates are advised to check the website of the University from time to time, to keep themselves abreast of the latest developments and communications. Instructions / information posted on the website will be deemed to have been communicated to the candidates.
• Disputes, if any, will be subject to the jurisdiction of the State of Sikkim.

Education Methodology

• Assignments – Self study is supported by assignments & case studies. These are included in the evaluation scheme.
• Seminars - Seminars topics of importance are conducted. These allow student-professional interaction and expand their knowledge base.
• IT Training - Information technology skills are honed through practice of research and assignments in computer laboratories.
• Internships - The internship program enables the students to experience the industry environment and apply the concept learnt in the classroom to real life situations.
• Projects - Projects help the students to develop the practical knowledge.
• Evaluations - Student performance in each course is assessed by continuous and internal evaluation throughout the semester. Students are evaluated on the basis of assignments, seminars, projects and final examination conducted every semester for evaluation.

EIILMU Facilities

CIB - Collaborative Industry Based Education is a concept derived by National Centre for Internship & Studies (NCIS) to integrate the component of industry in education. The university has an exclusive collaboration with National Centre for Internship & Studies (NCIS) to offer Collaborative Industry Based (CIB) education and research programmes. CIB provides industry exposure to students enabling them to obtain the basic and all functional knowledge of their selected industry. CIB education is regular education and not correspondence. It is easy to pursue as student performs everything in real industry as a part of their academic curriculum. These education programmes do not come under purview of joint committee of UGC-AICTE-DEC.

Classrooms – The classrooms are spacious and well equipped with latest technology and educational implements.

Hostels – Separate Hostel facility for Boys and girls

Library – The university has a library with a collection of over 20000 titles, text, reference material, journals, magazines, periodicals, audio/ video, CDROM's, research reports etc.

Laboratories – The university has number of laboratories belonging to different departments. They serve the varied needs of education through practical training.

Scholarships – Scholarships for under privileged girls towards their development are also offered.

Internet Facility - Internet facilities are available 24x7 for the students.

Bank loan Facility – Keeping in mind the high cost of education, the university facilitates 100% study loan assistance.

Research - For admission to Ph.D. and M.Phil. courses, a candidate has to clear an entrance test followed by an interview conducted at the University. The students who have qualified UGC/CSIR(JRF)/SLET/teacher fellowship/GATE or have passed entrance tests for can get direct admission on merit basis. In the interview, candidates may discuss their research interests. The university provide the facilities for research work in the areas of Biotechnology, Management, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science and Information Technology. The allocation of supervisor will be done in a formal manner by the department based on the research interests of student, specialization of the faculty and in no case will be left to the student or teacher to decide on their own choice. All the admitted students have to undergo the course work of minimum one semester duration related to methodology of research work or review of literature. However, the course work may be carried out either within the institution or outside of it. Each student has to publish one research paper in a referred journal before submission of the thesis. Thesis so submitted will be evaluated by two examiners. Of these two experts, at least one shall be from outside the state.

Guest Speakers – The institute invites guest speakers who are distinguished personalities from various organisations and institutes. Their views, experiences and knowledge are shared by the students which increases their perception.

Student Clubs - Clubs such as art and literary, entertainment, fashion, hospitality, IQ, music, photographic etc. are managed by the students. This provides the students a sense of responsibility and lesson in leadership. It also gives them the opportunity to show their talent.

International Collaborations - EIILM University is entering into academic collaboration with foreign institutes to co-work on joint research activities, to mutually benefit from exchange of information in the area of scientific education and research. It also initiates exchange of faculty members for research, lectures, and discussions. Its other benefits include - Access to facilities of the collaborating institutes and preference to students of the respective in graduate programs.

PAC - Placement Assistance Cell has a dedicated, qualified professional who is in constant touch with various companies establishing training and job opportunities. Several activities are conducted with joint effort of Industry and the university. Industrial visits/ education Tours/ Internships are some of the activities. Career Guidance is also offered by the bureau.

Towards placement, PAC conducts:

• Summer Internships - At the end of the first and second years of their Post graduation in Management, and during 3rd and 4th year of Engineering and other Programs, all students are supposed to take up a two-month internship assignment (summer training) with any organization. This is a compulsory component of the curriculum for the completion of the program. It is designed to provide exposure to students towards applying the learning for solving real-world business problem's and scientific enhancements. Students acquire strong analytical capabilities for a two-month period. Some candidates receive placements during this period.
• Live Projects - Apart from the Summer Internship program, several organizations such as Cipla Pharmaceuticals, ICAR, Indichem Pharmaceuticals, etc. invite the EIILM's elite candidates for solving specific problems. These can be taken up by students at any point of time.
