The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has postponed the State Services Main Examination 2026, which was scheduled to begin on October 3.
The commission has also deferred the Maharashtra Civil Engineering Main Examination 2026 and the Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Main Examination 2026. Revised dates for all three examinations will be announced separately.
The MPSC said it received representations from candidates, parents, student organisations and elected representatives seeking the postponement of the State Services Main Examination 2026. After considering these requests, it decided to defer the three examinations.

The decision comes amid protests by MPSC aspirants over the alleged question paper leak in the Drug Inspector examination and concerns about the commissionโs examination procedures.
In another significant decision, the commission has ordered the re-evaluation of answer sheets from the Maharashtra State Services Main Examination 2025.
The move follows objections raised by candidates and student organisations regarding the evaluation process. The commission has cautioned that the re-evaluation could delay the examination process further.
A high-level committee headed by senior bureaucrat V Radha is reviewing the existing examination system. It has held discussions with candidates and other stakeholders and studied examination practices elsewhere. The committee is expected to submit recommendations for an improved examination system shortly.
Candidates preparing for the MPSC State Services Mains 2026, Civil Engineering Mains and Group-B Mains will have to wait for the revised schedule.
The commission has not announced fresh dates for the three examinations. Aspirants awaiting the outcome of the 2025 State Services Mains will also have to wait for the re-evaluation process to be completed.
