Arch College of Design and Business announces Rs 1 lakh COVID Scholarships for students and design aspirants
~With new COVID Support Policy, the design college aims to continue supporting academic brilliance and foster the excellence of emerging designers in these difficult times ~
Jaipur, July 1, 2021: Keeping its commitment towards imparting professional education and skilling, Arch College of Design and Business, Jaipur announced a new COVID scholarship scheme for design aspirants who have lost earning family members due to the pandemic. The COVID scholarships include free education for siblings of Arch students in the first year of study, and financial aid of Rs one lakh for design admission seekers and science stream students to encourage them to enrol in design courses. Seeing the severity of these difficult times, Arch has also introduced a special scholarship based on ‘the principal’s recommendation’. If the principal of a school recommends a student, Arch will grant a waiver of 50 percent in the fee for the first year of education.
ARCH is one of the pioneer colleges offering higher education in design in India. Set up in the year 2000, under the aegis of the ARCH Educational Society, Arch imparts industrially relevant and specialized education of global standards in various streams of design and other allied arts. Arch offers Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Professional courses in Jewellery, Fashion, Interior, Graphic, Photography, Digital Design and Product design along with a BBA programme in design and entrepreneurship.
Talking about the new COVID scholarships, Ms. Archana Surana, Founder & Director, Arch College of Design and Business said, “We understand the parents and students have been going through a very difficult time. Although the institution cannot take away the grief and suffering, we most definitely would like our COVID scholarships to support the students who have been severely affected by the pandemic. We are committed to nurture designing talent and creativity. Therefore, we introduced these scholarships to ease the financial burden on the students and encourage them to enrol and fulfil their creative dreams and desires.”
The institution has also formed an internal committee which will collect and review all financial aid applications and finalise the list of beneficiaries for scholarships. The benefits of COVID scholarships would be available in the academic year 2021-22.
Since its inception ARCH has declared its commitment towards promoting and fostering future designers and creative minds. With a view to facilitate access to design education, Arch supports brilliant students with various scholarships and financial aid schemes. A fee waiver of 25 percent is offered by the design institution to children of defence personnel, teachers, artisans, single-mothers, non- binary and specially-able students. To promote courses like Jewellery & Product Design, a 4 lac rupees scholarship too has been offered.
In order to support its people amid the second wave of COVID-19, Arch is taking all necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of the staff and students like social distancing, working with limited staff, online classes and virtual sessions and workshops.
