Behind Prabhat Kumar Yadavโs NEET UG success is a father who spent nearly two decades away from family, driving an auto-rickshaw in Mumbai to help fulfil his sonโs dream of becoming a doctor.
Hailing from Devkipur village in Uttar Pradeshโs Jaunpur district, Prabhat has secured an MBBS seat at King Georgeโs Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, after getting 627 marks and an All India Rank (AIR) of 3,864 in NEET UG 2026.
Prabhatโs achievement comes after years of hard work and family support. While he lives in Devkipur with his mother, Bansraji, grandfather, Indra Bahadur Yadav, and siblings, his father, Mahendra Kumar Yadav, has spent nearly two decades in Mumbai, working as an auto-rickshaw driver.
Living in a small chawl in Mumbai, Mahendra continued to send his earnings home to support the family and fund his childrenโs education. His income helped Prabhat continue his studies and pursue his goal of securing a medical seat.
Indra Bahadur said Prabhatโs success was a reflection of the hard work and sacrifices his father had made to support his education.
Prabhatโs journey to medical college began in his village, where he initially prepared for NEET before moving to Kota for classroom coaching. Prabhat received a 50 percent fee concession from ALLEN Career Institute, while his father paid the remaining amount through monthly payments.
Prabhat scored 504 marks in his first NEET UG attempt. He then took a drop year to prepare again and improve his score. In NEET UG 2026, he improved his score to 627 marks and secured an AIR of 3,864, earning a seat at KGMU.
Prabhat has consistently performed well academically, scoring 89.44 percent in Class 10 and 83.44 per cent in Class 12. He now hopes to turn his success into an opportunity to serve people in his village and surrounding areas.
Speaking about his achievement, Prabhat credited his familyโs support and the guidance he received during his preparation. He said he wants to become a good doctor and serve people in his village and beyond.
Prabhatโs achievement has sparked excitement across Devkipur and four neighbouring villages. Relatives, villagers and well-wishers have been visiting the family to congratulate them.
The achievement has also encouraged other students from the area to seek Prabhatโs advice on preparing for competitive examinations and planning their careers.
For a family that spent years supporting his education, Prabhatโs admission to KGMU marks the culmination of his fatherโs long years of hard work, his own persistence and his determination to become a doctor.
