Students at IIT Bombay have continued their protest, demanding action against Professor Suryanarayana Doolla and Director Shireesh Kedare.
The protesters are demanding Doollaโs suspension from all roles and responsibilities, not just removal from the deanship, which they said was promised by the Director on September 20, 2026.
They are also seeking Kedareโs suspension and immediate resignation, citing four student suicides during his tenure as Director.
One of the key demands is the complete removal of Doolla from all roles and responsibilities at the institute. The students have also demanded a thorough and transparent external investigation into the case of Sahil.
They want the minutes of meetings and reports from all stages of the Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) process to be made public anonymously on the institute forum.
The protesters have further demanded that hostel expulsion should not be included among punitive measures imposed on students.
The students have called for the Student Welfare Committee (SWC) to function as an independent entity. They have also demanded that the Dean of Student Welfare be a medically qualified professional.
Another demand is for the Director to issue a statement clarifying that students participating in the protest are not supporting any form of cheating.
The protesters have also sought assurance that no action will be taken against students participating in the demonstration.
Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi leader Sujat Ambedkar reached the IIT Bombay Gate during the ongoing protest. Ambedkar criticised the institute for issuing what he described as premature statements regarding the student suicide case.
The students have demanded the immediate resignation of Director Shireesh Kedare, stating that four suicides have occurred during his tenure.
